hello. so.. im new to modeling and im looking for as many tips and help i can. i just discovered this website today.

but this ship is my very first build. i have probably already made some flaws.

i have looked a little around of other builds of the halifax and i have read its a little challenging ship. but im in a little need for some help. i dont know if i have messed up. the other builds i have seen looks much more smooth and "perfect". just keep in mind i have not sanded much because im afraid i have messed up, so any advise or guide would be appreciated :)

No worries! In fact, you still have a lot of sanding left to do! The blocks you have glued in at the bow and stern -- the filler blocks -- need to be sanded to match the contours of the false decks above them and the bulkheads adjacent to them. The bulkheads also need to be bevelled so that your planks will not form a sharp kink at each bulkhead. You'll want your planks to form smooth curves from stem to stern. Midship bulkheads require little bevelling, if any, but those at the bow and stern may need quite a bit, especially on bluff-bowed subjects like Halifax.

Good luck!

I need to sand Down the frames so They flush with the false deck right? Just so i dont get the wrong idea of wich i need Sanding? ofcouse keeping the curves after sanding as They are now. :)

Correct, but bear in mind that the amount that you need to remove from each bulkhead may change slightly from top-to-bottom. Use a planking strip to check your progress. Ideally, at each bulkhead the plank should lie flat across the edge with no sharp bend in the plank and no gaps between it and the bulkhead. It's one of the skills that comes with the territory -- you'll get the hang of it.

Hi Flip - I'm new to this site too - and I'm also working on a Halifax (mine is a kit made by an Italian company called Mamoli - it's a 1:54, so a little smaller than yours). I've just finished the planking, so not too far ahead of where you are. Happy to help out with advice as you go along!

How are you coming on this? It's been a while since you posted. Did the planking strip help you with the sanding?
