I don’t have Chrome on my iPhone, but using Safari the button to follow a topic is at the bottom of the page: Edit: the arrow looks like it’s pointing where to click, but its not, it’s just part of the webpage appearance on iPhone/Safari. At the very bottom of the thread there is the option to change the “theme” of how the threads are shown. I chose “uniform” theme and then I can see the “follow” option. thsnk you all for your help.
