Hello All,

I am working on my first model, Occre’s Polaris. I have seen several build logs where the builder said they would have liked to plank the inner bulwarks but lacked sufficient planks.

well I’ve gotten through all the planking and have enough planks left over to plank the inner bulwarks in lime - should I? I am torn between wanting to do the kit the way it was designed and wanting it to look more realistic - I am interested in crowd sourcing opinions on this. Also, can anyone point me towards a Polaris build log where the inner bulwarks are planked? I can’t find any examples.

I assume what you have are the 2mm x 5mm lime wood strips,   If so that seems like a pretty thick addition to the bulwark.  Be sure any cap will still cover it.  A lot of Occre kits also use some 5mm x 0.6mm sycamore.  Not sure if Polaris does, but that might be a better option for the inner bulwarks if you have any.

good clarification! Yes it is the very thin second planking veneer strips that I have leftover so the bulwark would not be too thick IMO.

I’m curious if anyone has seen this modification to Polaris before, and if so if they can drop a link to it?

otherwise, I’m curious what people’s opinions are on planking the inner bulwarks.

I'd go for thin planking inside the bulwarks, then add the the spaced  verticals  ... Endurance builds with them look lots better.
