For some of my models, I'd like to possibly mount them on brass, other metal, or wood pedestals with a screw into the keel that are then attached to a wood base. I attached a screen shot of one I found online.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good North American supplier of these, ideally that might be in different dimensions and materials? I would want to get one that has the right dimensions for the keel and shape of the ship I am planning to mount.

Any suggestions on how to get the right dimensions on these?

I've found other posts on how to mount them. I haven't found any on where to buy them and how to dimension them when buying.

... or door- or furniture-knobs. You can file the slot to suit your keel and can work them over, if needed, by chucking them up in a drill - I assume you don't have lathe, otherwise it would be easy to make them yourself.

I hadn’t thought of adapting other hardware. Sadly, no lathe. Someday maybe.

I asked about options because I was looking to see if there might be something other than Amazon or Model Shipways.

In a previous post I asked about pin vises and drill bits. Yeah, I can find a ton of cheap imports on Amazon. But some people suggested other places with a wide selection that I never found googling around.

I think one needs to use one's imagination and also walk around with open eyes in order to see what materials or hardware or tools can be adapted to our needs. I am not familiar with the markets and the accessibility of shops in the USA, but hardware and DIY stores are places of interest, as are shops selling art and architectural model-making supplies, watchmaking and jewel-making suppliers, nail-'art' suppliers, chirurgical/ medical/ dental/ biological instrument suppliers, woodworking and luthier suppliers, antiques dealers, etc.

When I am looking for something, I am plugging the respective keywords into ebay and see what somes up and in which trades. I then might browse also the respective stores to get ideas for what is on the market. I then look, whether I can get an item of interest closer to home and at what price.

Go to NatureCoast hobbies. Under brass plated display sets look at these. Bronze dolphins 5678, Dolphin mounting set MA7100 and Pegasus mounting set MA 7101. Very nice. Will give that special touch to any ship. No kit bashing involved.
