HELP NEEDED - blackening metal - moved and retitled by moderator

I am really new to this.  I need some advice:  "How best to paint brass/copper chain to make it look like black anchor chain without getting the links all clogged up with paint."

 

With so many experts out there some one can probably help me, but I'm not sure which forum to use to get the word out to the experts.

Check out "Blacken It" solution, model train and craft stores have it. There's also a really good topic here at MSW about how to best use it.

I third the recommendation. I'm a true believer in Blacken-it. I use it instead of paint.
