    According to The Cutty Sark book by Longridge the actual length of the masts from deck to cap is Fore 613/4 feet Main 64 3/4 feet Mizzen mast 55 3/4 The book by C. Nepean Longridge is available through abe books and very helpful resource. Bow sprit is 20 ft long outside the knightheads. Hope this works for you

    Thanks right now things are at a stand still. Hope to get back soon. Weather is too nice to be cooped up in doors. Golfing Beach and lawn care eating up my free time as well as back to Physical Therapy for my hip replacement last year.

    I have started to plank the hull and am working on a method to attach the planking to the upper deck where it separates for insertion in to the bottle. I also reworked the upper decks so the top deck is the only one that will be separated.

    Still tying ratlines but I have 4 finished and two shrouds left. Also working on the upper spanker boom. almost ready to be mounted to the mast.

    Short update, I have been tying ratlines for what seems months. Anyway as this was my first attempt I have learned valuable lesson for future builds. 1 Do not add any yards prior to tying ratlines, 2 Don't add any additional rigging prior to tying ratlines. 3 Always keep some strong medication clase at hand and 4. Always close the door and turn up the radio so the Admiral doesn't hear me cursing like a sailor when I drop tools or have trouble tying the ratlines. Anyway I have finished the fore mast and mizzen mast and am halfway done the rear mast on them starboard side. There is definitely a learning curve. I actually see a difference from the fist ratlines to the ones on the rear mast.

    A short update I have added both forward and rear decks painted the decks and drilled holes for the masts. The rear decks will come apart from the main hull so I can get the ship into a gallon bottle. Next step is adding the planking. I have decided to stain the planks a dark walnut. .

    I have started tying the ratlines on the foremast and also started to build the spanker boom. Started with 5/16 inch dowel and placed it in my drill and sanded to the appropriate shape. Then added the side pieces for the fork. I have also started a new build The Golden Swan Ship in a bottle. Something to take my mind off tying ratlines.

    Starting a new build The Golden Swan based om the 1588 English Galleon as pictured in Wolfram Zu Mondfeld book "Historic Ship Models" The hull is carved from sourwood. Usually I use Holly but wanted to try a different wood. The deck will be spit from the hull so the ship will be in two pieces so it can be placed in the bottle when done. I am building in between sessions with my Cutty Sark that I am also building.

    All the yards are now in place. Onto tying ratlines (first attempt) Can't believe I have been working on this ship for a year. Then add the final rigging.

    Two masts done and working on the Third. Waiting for the Underhill book to arrive for help with the rigging. So plan to start doing ratlines after all the masts are finished. Awaiting for my delivery from Model Expo for more chains.

    I am almost to the point of rigging the Cutty Sark. Unfortunately my references on the rigging are very lacking. So my question is which book would be more helpful. I have already purchased "The Art of Rigging". Anyway which book would help the most in aiding my rigging. "The Rigging of Ships" by R.C. Anderson, or "Rigging Period Ship Models" by Lennarth Peterson. I also own the two volume The Cutty Sark the Last of the Famous Tea Clippers by Longridge. However this did not come with the inserts. Thanks in the advance for any help or any suggestions on other books.

    A little disappointed book from a cursory look through appears very technical. Not what I expected. Only paid 9 bucks and free shipping so not a total loss. Will use it as much as I can though. No rigging for clipper ships but I will still use it. Hope this helps.

    Added the martingale chains to the hull and bowsprit. Attached two yards on the main mast. Waiting for chain I ordered to finish the yard. Awaiting arrival of the book I ordered on rigging.

    So after cutting and sanding two yards and waiting for the paint to dry I started attaching the chain to the bow sprit and permanently attach the bowsprit. The chains will be tightened up after everything is attached.

    One down two more to go. Also started working on bowsprit and finished the rail on the fore deck.

    Four of the five yards are complete and in place. I also added the railing on the foredeck. I have to add the footropes on the top yaed and it is ready to be attached.

    Well I have completed the first two yards and I am almost ready to finish the entire mast. Lesson learned, one should drill any holes in the yards before they are attached to the mast. I had to remove the lower two yards to drill holes to attach the chains that support the yards.

    Coming along faster than I though. Working on the yards and such now. More pictures to come after I have the mizzen mast done

    Slow going doing the yards so far I have one on the foremast and one ready to be mounted. Bought some black beads at michaels to use as parral beads. One mor yard is in the drill awaiting sanding.
