Currently awaiting delivery of Longridge's books but in the meantime I have installed the deadeyes for all the masts. I have glued in the two chicken houses and the two bathrooms. I also installed the stanchions on the foredeck. -

After the glue dried on the bass wood strips I attached the railing and drilled holes into the bass strips so the deadeyes would be able to be glued in place. -

The deck houses are not glued onto the deck as I am currently working on attaching the rails and deadeyes. I also have the two bathrooms built and the winch and chain. This was completed on July 7, 2018. -

After the deck was planked I moved on to building the deck houses and other deck fittings. As I have no real plans I used the Billings plans and a copy of the Scientific plans. I believe that the deck house on the cutty was smaller than this one. April 2018 - June 2018 -

This planking was started in March as you can see there wasn't a false deck. I had to put in wood block in order to support the decking. The planks were marked with a black magic marker. -
I received this hull of the Cutty Sark back in 2013. A friend of my son gave it to him to give to me. It has sat in my boatyard all this time. Back in March I started working on by planking the deck.

Nat, I have copies of the Scientific Constitution. However they are copies and you would have to piece them together. I built the model but never completed it. I have looked high and low for the original directions but have come up empty handed. Send me you address if you want them. Alan -

I know what you are going through as I started The Hannah as a ship in a bottle in 2000 and just finished her in 2016. Would work on her until I ran into a problem and would put it on the shelf. A few months (year) I would start again only to have another problem. The last time I pulled it off the shelf low and behold all the sails had holes in them, I had to replace all the sails. It finally made it into the bottle and now sits on my finished shelf. So hang in there and you will get back the urge. Al

Pulling up a seat and joining the build. Pass the pop corn please. By the by I am building the Sergal President as my first planking and the directions are horrible but I am determined to finish the build. Very nice work love to see how people make corrections to their errors as I probably will run into them myself at sometime. A friend gave me a semi finished ship of the Pride of Baltimore unfortunately it was broken and I borrowed the parts panels and will try to start over. Al cold in southern Delaware

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
