Thanks I will try it on my next build. I tried using a piece of wire between the two deadeyes but it kept falling out. -

Yes by accident. I tried my best to have them all line up but the best laid plans of men and mice. Lol. This was my first attempt at rigging and I used wire to wrap the deadeyes and then I used my rope by tying and wrapping on the wire. It was real hard to get them to line up. -

Finished all the shrouds on port and starboard side of ship. On to the spars and bowsprit. I will post pictures as I go. -
Actually we live between Selbyville and Fenwick Island right off route 54. Small world.

The rigging continues at a snails pace. Found out that the deadeyes and shrouds needed an additional one placed into a big opening. I have attached all the spreader bars and tied them to the shrouds. More updates as I continue. -
I feel your pain. I know how it feels to be ready for the next step and find out that two steps ago something is wrong. Hang in there. I too am retired so hang in there and enjoy the build. That being said I am enjoying your build. I built the Hannah as a ship in bottle several years ago. I started the build in 1998 and finished in in 2014. I had nothing but problems with the build and would put it aside for six moths or a year and then bring it back until the next problem reared its ugly head. LOL finally finished it and put in the bottle all end well eventually. Oh Fly Eagles Fly

Okay the Holidays are over and now part two of the rigging begins. I have made the spreader bars for the rigging and started the port side rigging. I started with the mizzen mast the main mast and am working on the foremast. -

So after some research I realized I had placed the front deadeyes and lines in the wrong position. I am in the process of correcting this. My question is I am ready to build the spars and I am not sure How to attach them to the masts? My first full sized build so any help is appreciated. -

So I have finished the rigging for the shrouds 6 on each side for the fore mast and main mast. 4 on each side for mizzen mast. I have glued the deck houses ( all except the one on the poop deck). So I guess I will start the spars although I am not sure how I am going to attach them to the masts. When I build by ships in bottle I drill holes through the mast and through the spar and tie it to the mast. I read somewhere that you can do it by using a piece of wire. Guess trial and error. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. -

So I am starting to rig the lower masts but really did not have any place where I could work on the rigging as the table is too low and the ship too tall to fit on my work desk. So I built a rigging stand so the deadeyes are almost eye level. -

The last mast is done and placed in the deck. The deck houses are placed on the deck ready for gluing. Now onto the bowsprit. -

And so it begins. I have completed the build of the foremast. I am currently rigging the deadeyes on the upper part of the mast. Quite a challenge using small deadeyes what with my big fingers lol. Also received The Neophyte Jackstay what a great reference book. -

Longridge's books arrived and after some investigation I have started on the masts, I also have made two pin rails with the belaying pins. I took the advice from the books and made a stand to build the masts off from the ship. Much easier to work on. The ship in the background is a sib of the Flying Cloud awaiting insertion into a bottle.
