  1. What I am seeing here is artwork, and a artist at work. Thumbs up. A splendid piece of work.
  2. Hello all... Once I get the upload photo procedure routine, I will have some photos of my progress. So far, slow but doing a lot of reading and data lookups. (other forums as well). The build routine for this kit is mainly cut and paste. Some sanding and a few parts not fitting. Adjustments for those are easy fixes. Take it easy on me, this is my first major build of a fine ship. I have to admire this kit and workmanship that went into the manufacturing. I am about the start the first planking. Suggestions are appreciated. "Woodchipper" or Woody
  3. Many thanks to Bindy for the steerage through new channels.. She is great harbor lady...:-) My ship kit has arrived in port "Woodchipper" as of April 29th, 2014. What a amazing 30 odd pounds of parts. Scary. But let the fun begin my first large ship construction. I am satisfying a 20 or more year craving to build one of these, since seeing a display of ships of 6 to 8 foot in length in the early years of Disney World in Florida. Magnificent in their stature, and built by a Floridian, name now not remembered. And for sale.. A later trip showed none left. Thanks Bindy... and the rest of you that have welcomed this land lubber from the Iowa corn state. "Woodchipper" I hope mine is close to the picture below.. less sails.
  4. Gentlemen, Just a note of compliments and a question. I just received and beginning the construction of the HMS Victory 1805, scale 1.72 which may be a few cm different. Posing my first construct question, when you start cutting out the ribs sections, the manual asks that you number each one, 1 thru 18. As you take them out of the numbered lazer cut sheets. Ok.. I have 6 sheets with 3 ribs per sheet. What sequence bow to stern or stern to bow are the sheets related to the plans... Thanks... After further checking part 1 its evident now that sheet the wood sheet number 1 contains the first frame thru the third frame, and as I progress the next three ribs follow in sequence.... I need to read more.. ;-). BTW.. this is a very exceptional kit form to build. Very nice.. "Woody"
  5. Hello Patrick...Thanks for the words of cheer and support on the HMS Victory 1.72 build. I will rely on this group heavily in the future. The HMS Victory 1.72 will arrive in my UPS Express port sometime today. :-) And due to the 7 days of rain, my building port is not ready yet. Today I hope to finish my spray painting of the storage base, and with luck moved to my computer room for assembly. My building itch is getting scratched, and my enduring wife has fallen into acceptance mode. Whew. Relief. Its a short move to the outdoors for any sanding details (maybe) as well as a small vacuum will be nearby should I need to do dirty stuff in the room. :-) I will be doing a written work day by work day log of the build, as well as photos (only if it goes well) of the progress. :-) Best to you on the rest of your build. I will be watching and reviewing your past progress. "Woody"
  6. Patrick.. even though I am a novice ...maybe a suggestion here. When dry fitting as you suggest, in those tight area's I wonder if one should not tie a safety line to the item your working with. Is it possible for you to locate this ladder via a flexible light or a mini type flexible telescope and retrieve it that way?? I am about to order the 1.72 scale Victory..so I am very interested in these builds.. errors and good parts too. Thanks.. "Woody" PS.. I was also a machinist, and have woodworking skills.. other than that, this is the first build, and perhaps my last as well.
