    Hi B.E.

many thanks for your kind compliment..., in the moment its taking quite some time to get these little things together,
    but in the meantime.....
If you wish, and for those who are also interested in the present status, so to say what has been done since keellaying in June last year, here some illustrations I picked out....

These skylights turned out really nice indeed. I second your decision to keep the brass finish.

    Hi Lawrence,

thank you for your nice words, I`m meanwhile still at the boats deck and doing the coamings for the superstructure it`s planking with pencil caulking at the edges, on 2 mm wide 0.6 mm thick srtips

    Nils

The hights of the vents, above deck, still need to be adjusted later on

The three aft winches will be in approximately these positions

here planking of the aft boats deck has taken place ( no fairing done to it yet )

    thank you Patrick,

regarding to the fire Water-Hydrants, I did 6 (three stations on each side of the promenade deck)

I also need some bollards and cleats alongside of the promeade deck railing, started making some today, using rivets, brass strip, and wood dowels, I intend to do 14 or 15

    Hello people from MSW

After some radiosilence I hope to continue this buildingreport. I can't promise updates every week but my goal is to start building again in a slow but steady pase.

After my time in hospital I had no energy to do anything and the models were collecting dust and so did the hobbyroom. So when I found some motivation again to do anything I dicided to clean the room first but that got out of hand a little. Because my medical conditions I had to work very slow and it took me lots of time to do everything but last weeks I finished 'cleaning'. All the tools have their own place now in the new toolcabinet I made and instead of heaps of tools and bulks of junk I have now a beautifull new workplace for the heavier jobs. Also the 'gates of the cave' got a re-styling with some nautical objects I collected over the years and I created more space in the hobbyroom by replacing a big wooden desk for a smaller cabinet on wheels (for the lathe).

    Thank you very much John,

your compliment is much appreciated, and I saw you were catching up with the build log, thanks for looking in.

Today I assembled one of those benches ( fiddely stuff I must say !  ), but I think its acceptable with a bit more routine it will do.... Trust Bill and Carl were right with their recommendation to avoid soldering (thanks again Bill and Carl) , The CA connection of parts is strong enough for this.

Also thanks to those for all the " likes"

    Thanks Carl,

I have no doubts with the deck-sitting furniture, its the style of the era and looks good regardless to the ships name. Besides that I was pleased to find any at all in this scale . There were some benches in plastic (train gauge N ), but they did`nt find my approval....

    Denis,

trust now all vents in raw, basic shape are done. There are so many, that I had to make a plan, which and how many go where...... For the length adjustments there is a bit surplus tube on every vent. The pics show the variety of sizes, tube / bowl diameters and raw lengths. The plan though is not in scale ( only to give an overview)
Some of the tubes go through the boats deck and remain visible looking on the promenade deck, some tubes will be blended behind vertical claddings on the promenade deck

    Update
    making vents

have been producing vents in different sizes these days, the pics show only 39 and there are 39 more to do (total 78)
The time consuming part is to get the radial hole to size of a close fit around the tube for good soldering with a gas torch
I`ve never used my Dremel (and different diameter grinding bits) so much before

    Little update....

Am just starting with fitting the aft part of the (raw and dryfit) boats deck into the metal framework. The lower portion of the aft mast also is fitted in place. The deck is of 0,8 mm thick 3-layer ply, and will be planked with 0,8 x 2mm pine planks with "pencil edge caulking", same as the promenade deck

    Hello fellow modelship builder.

I am happy to inform You they kicked me out of hospital since yesterday.

After I was caught building a small plastic modelkit in the cleaning closet I got my first warning. Begging the nurses for medical bits and pieces like surgical knifeblades, medicationpots and other stuff for the hobby gave me the second and when the team of doctors discovered my hobbylathe and drillpress under the bed they send me home the same day for being incorrigible.

Now I have to continue with the medicine I started in hospital and in 2 months I have to dicide how to move on. But I am very happy to be home with my wife and kids again.
At the moment I am still weak and very tired but I hope to find some time and energy to start building my ships again

    Kind regards, Kees

Your log updates are always interesting and impressive!

How do you bend the L-beams to the same radius as the deck curvature without the beams warping?
