  1. kudos mark,,,i too am using left over tools from my 25 foot barrelback build of a few years ago, envy the guys with the fancy equipment but find it more challenging and rewarding to do more with less,, scrounging around the house and barn to see what can be utilized,,, on current build even a pair of boxer shorts was sacrificed
  2. have gotten quite a bit built in two months, to the date, not a museum piece but my only solace is the fact that my most sophisticated tool is a 60 year old drill press
  3. thanks sailor, its slow going with having to dig up a lump of coal to draw the plans, hacking out the parts with a stone ax, constantly having to sharpen the damn thing, now gonna have to fair it with a deer antler,,, good thing deer season is here cause i'm running out of antler,,,,
  4. being naturally drawn to water we take the rv to a half a dozen corps of engineers lakes every summer so i thought it would be fun to build me a paddle board to scoot around on..
  5. dont mean to stir anything up but i see a lot of references to soldering and brazing so i thought i would put my two cents in, i believe and if my memory still serves me right, the american welding society defines soldering as anything below 900 deg F. and brazing as anything above 900... by the way , that is some beautiful work!!

  8. difference between ipad and iphone pics is startling, 4 days of work on two 4 inch launches,, how do you delete a photo once it is downloaded onto here,,havent been able to figure it out yet!!!

  10. got away from the wife for a couple of hours and started the hull, slow going when all you have are neanderthal tools to work with, yard stick and a crayon P.S. the fish got in by mistake, havent figured out how to delete yet
  11. a gold medal for you imagna,,think you are absolutely correct, the plastic model shows what looks like rope with floats , i didnt reproduce yet cause i didnt have any idea what they might be, there is a total of four of these "redneck hot tubs", the ropes and floats should add a nice little detail,, thanks for educating me ,, P.S. thanks for the capsizing heads up,,will keep the ballast tanks full

  13. i couldnt believe it, two four foot scratch built models and she thought they were plastic kits, i think i could get away with temporary insanity and cop a plea to manslaughter!!!! anyhoo, sent her shopping so i had a couple of hours to work on the devil, got the chimneys mostly done, the head lights are in, guess the stop lights and turn signals go on the back one, steel plate for the deck and hull framing supposed to be here today so will start on that,, figure couple more excursions to the mall by the wife should have the devil afloat P.S. anybody know what that redneck hot tub looking thing on the side of the stack is??
  14. so the wife walks into the workshop this morning, aka the laundry room, and says " why dont you just put together the plastic parts like you did the other two?".. if there is a lawyer in the crowd do i have grounds for a quick divorce???

  16. was feeling pretty good, the guns turned out decently i thought, than made the mistake of looking at some of the other builds going on, now i feel i should do the honorable thing and disembowel myself on the kitchen floor
  17. let the sake swilling, chrysanthemum sniffing bonsai sons of the rising sun come, i'll be ready!!!! aaaah,,just as soon as i gets me a ship that is P.S. have plenty of the blast boot material left if anybody needs some,,unfortunately the wife washed out the powder burns so somebody would have to simulate their own

  19. does any one know of a course of treatment for the compulsive redoititis syndrome? the incessant urge to go back and redo the stuff already done
