You mentioned that you were trying out the method where you put glue on both surfaces, let dry for a bit, then join the two pieces. I have not tried this method, nor do I plan to. I only glue one surface with titebond 2, then clamp in place and let it dry overnight.  I have similar cold and hot situations (Florida) in my garage, and have not had a problem with the glue holding.

The technique you described is used with contact cement, where you let both surfaces dry completely, then join the two parts together.  You better have the two pieces aligned perfectly, because they will not be coming apart.  Just my two cents.

Thank you, Ray, that was exactly what I needed to know.  I have been playing around with several different gauges of wire to make ringbolts and hooks for a 1:48 model I am building, and I felt that yours were fairly close to the right size for that scale.  Thanks again for your help.

Fine work on your Triton cross section; very much envied.  Question:  What gauge wire, or diameter,  did you use for your ringbolts you made (I assume) for your gun tackles? Thanks.

Office Depot can print from one scale to another from a disc, and I felt that they were reasonable.  Office Max was much more extreme on their pricing.

Try "re-painting" with black india ink.  You will be pleasantly surprised.

Try using some birch hardwood planks.  Soak them for about a half hour, clamp in place and leave it to dry or use Mama's blow dryer.  It will stay in the position you set it in.  After you soak it in water for a while, you can probably tie it in a knot.

Try some planks made from Birch.  You can almost twist it into a pretzel after soaking.
