for some reason i love anything oddball, like for example, the ship they used for the Queen Annes Revenge in pirates of the Caribbean. it was wrong on so many levels, but it was neat looking.

as the title says, how do you decide on what to build? historical significance? personal significance? or just cause it looked cool?

ok, so ive been reading all i can about FoB planking, mostly because im not very good at sculpting solid wood, but im still confused on lining out the hull. each article ive read explains the process a little differently, basically most articles say to divid the girth by 4, how do you measure the girth? then to attach some string or narrow tap so one edge follows the bulkheads, and adjust until it looks right, how can i be sure the path it takes is right for the planks, or should i use a tick sheet to help?

im starting work on my constucto hms bounty, and the hull wood is rough, and the sand paper seams to be making gashes in the side, should i switch to a finer sand paper or fill the hull then sand?

How would you suggest removing paint from wood, other than sanding and scraping

is one better than the other? what do you prefer and why?

i was making kebobs for dinner and noticed that the wood skewer was close in diameter to the one or two yards i have, so im gonna try that and see how it goes

What would be a good wood to make yards out of?
