Hello Walrusguy, in a ship model kit many details are simplified, and so are the letters of the ship´s name. They come as etched brass parts which have only to be painted and glued on. This is the simple way and I did so. I admire you for choosing a more ambitious way and trying to have the ship´s name painted on, and I think with your tries you are on the right way. I guess you have the model of Harold M. Hahn as your example? (I turned the picture, the original is upside down)

Thank you! When I was looking for functioning hinges I discovered a modeling manufacturer in Switzerland, sse the link below https://www.mbapiro.ch/produkte_detail.php?grp_id=1&content_id=12&produkt_id=162 Regrettably the item is actually not available, and it is not very cheap.

So, after redoing the pictures as screenshots, it works..... The pictures show the furniture in the captain´s cabin, made on a 3D-printer - in the right scale! - and painted

Hello Walrusguy, thank you very much again.... The 12pdr (and the 6pdr) guns are not from the kit but from syrenshipmodelcompany.com, they also sell miniature rope. I bought mine on www.takelgarne.de

Hello modelers, as already mentioned in the Confederacy build log of Walrusguy (here page 7), this is not a build log but a series of pictures of my model showing the progress of the build..... As I have now been building for a few years, I begin with the latest pictures and upload the rest time by time..... I look forward to your questions and comments. Greetings Werner

Hello Walrusguy, I first contacted you when I visited your build log of the Confederacy and drew your attention to a mistake you had made with the planking. In the following I invited you to visit my gallery of my Confederacy model in my german forum, and you registered there and therefore are able to watch the progress of my build. As we two are by far not the only builders of this ship and because I like to watch other build logs, I have decided to start a new topic here with the pictures of my build so that all those who are interested can also take part. As already mentioned before it is a gallery and not another build log with detailed descriptions of how I did it. So to all who read this, come and see..... any questions, comments and constructive criticism welcome. I will begin with the latest pictures and upload the rest time by time.... Greetings Werner

Hello walrusguy, I must admit that I was a bit astonished when I first visited this log and saw the pictures showing how the hull planking matched with the planking of the lower counter along its bottom edge. My way of construction was to build the planking of the lower counter as a separate part - similar to the sub-deck platforms - using the stern view on sheet one (similar to that above) as a template, see the respective pictures from my german forum (sorry, uploading didn´t word, don´t know why.) However, I think it is not really a problem for you to get an excellent fix.

A very fine model with all the treenaling and the coloring in red and blue! There is a point in the building instructions I did not agree with and therefore changed the way of construction. The lower moulding strips shall be glued on completely, which means they have to be removed partially where the channels are to be mounted. I changed the way and glued the moulding strips in seperate pieces alternating with the channels. I hope you don' t have too much work in removing the concerned segments of the moulding strips. More pictures of my model in the german forum coming soon!
