Thank you friends for your replies. Louie da fly: I don´t think it´s close to complete - I have to make the most important equipment for the sailing ship - sails and do the second part of running rigging, that´s quite a lot. tkay 11: decks are made of strips of foils, and patinated with anilin water colors, then coated with matt colorless paint. see pics below. Bowsprit is finally finished and rigged, I hope I did it right. And now, as I mentioned, I can to start to make sails. Jan

I finished the first part of running rigging for masts. Now I can finish the bowsprit and rig it too ☺️ Jan

Almost all yards are on their places, just topsail spritsail yard is not. I´ll hang it at last ( I broke sprit topmast twice ). I´m still continuing with running rigging. Jan

Thank you, friends, for your replies. Louie da fly: probably yes, if you have as a cargo some logs or planks or boards, you need a place. But if you want to know more, please ask Abhovi. I completed all the yards 😊 and start to make ribs for parrals. I also ordered 1,4 mm beads for them. And I have to produce some blocks...a lot of blocks... Jan

It took me a long time ( because of different reasons ) to continue, but I´m still working on the ship. Masts and standing rigging are completed. Jan
-
My friends... I finally found a time for continuing...and made some deadeyes and tops, so I could start with standing rigging. I hope to have more time now. Jan

michael mott: Thank you, Mike. Dear friends, the hull is finished. Now I can continue with propulsion ( it means, btw, to produce a lot of my lovely deadeyes ) Jan
-
Thank you, friends. Chuck Seiler: the lenght of the wreck is 38,1 m. The lenght overall incude the bowsprit based on the plans is cca 47 m. Jan

Thank you, friends, for your comments. Daniel Caramango: some carvings are cutted from paper, then hardened by superglue, figures are made from modurit - it is the plastic modeling mass hardening by boiling or baking. I made some parts of decoration - roman soldiers ( I hope it looks like soldiers, I´m not very good sculptor and figures are just 25 mm long ), pedestals, molding on the stern and two little carvings on the bow, catheads, gun carriages ( simple ones I glued inside the ship ) and gun barrels. Just gunports lids and the lamp are missing. Jan

Omega1234: Thank you, Patrick. Anna Maria and curtains on the stern, deck and lion on the bow are added. Jan

Thank you, friends Matle: very interesting hypothesis.... I made windows and started with decoration on the aft. Jan

Thank you, friends. dgbot: I´m using Revell colors for plastic models. Some details are added on the deck for the running rigging. I also made and glued channels. Jan

Thank you very much for your kind words The handrail is finished. You can see the result on following pictures - I´m quite satisfied. Now I have to repaint the inner part of sides by matt uncolored paint to remove traces of glue and I can continue with the equipment of the maindeck. Jan

Heloo my friends, Don´t be afraid, I´m working slowly, but I´m working still I made paper prisms 1 x 1,5 mm, impregned them by superglue and colored. Then I used them to make ribs - now I´m prepared to finish handrails. I also glued both sides of galion. Jan

Thank you a lot, my friends, for your replies.. Sorry for late answering, but I have a lot to do this year, but no ship models.....I finally created something ... wales and some parts on decks and hull. Please be patient, the next progress will follow Jan
-
And... after several months I finally found a little time to continue on the model. I made some doors, keel and improved planking on the lower part of keel considering to plans and Ab´s instructions ( I´m consulting build with Ab Hoving ) . I believe I will have much more time next months. Next pictures shows the ship today. I will continue with wales and some parts on decks. Jan

I continued with imitation of planking.I made it as always - using strips of foils ( after gluing of strips I´m using hairdryer to heat foil for better adherence ). The hull was " too shiny " , I patinated it to make a planking effect using aniline water colors. and colorless matt varnish. Then I painted bottom of the ship. It looks like gunports are too close to watreline - but it si exactly based on plans. Gratings you can see are laser cutted.
-
I continued with clinker planking. I used 2,5 mm strips of 0,5 mm cartoon and glued them 0,5 mm each on another to make clinker effect. Then I colored it by red colour. Then I glued the 1 st wale and some planks.
-
The final layer of planking followed - I used 4 mm strips of 0,5 mm cartoon - you can see it on the 1 st picture. Then I sanded it, smoothly putted and sanded it again - the hull was extremely solid and smooth.
-
Then I continued with second part of layer of the bottom part of planking using 5 mm strips of drawing paper, I glued them across the first layer. Third layer of planking followed and the upper part of planking. The upper part of planking I made from four parts, the curvature on the aft I had to make separately. I sanded each part of planking.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
