  1. I´m continuing with the decoration, it goes very slowly, they are very small.
  2. Here is the another part of decoration. Another one will follow...and I´m still at the beginning...
  3. I know it very well. But I think you should add more ribs and do more solid hull, at first to sand it to the shape and then put the first layer of the planking from more pieces. The hull would be stronger and it could save you a lot of sanding. Here is the ribbing of the similar ship made by me ( and as you can see I used the corrugated cardboard too ).
  4. Another part of decoration on the balconies added. It is slowly filling up😉 Jan
  5. Hi friends, I starded making friezes at the upper gunports and very soon I find out I had a problem. Distances between wales are increasing backwards from 7 to 9 - 10 milimeters. Now I don´t know why, I made the hull 12 years ago...but It was not possible to make mold or something like this for serial production ( I needed 100+ pieces), because every piece was original...🙄 .... so I had to draw them and use 3D printing. Then fit each piece to its place... but I think the result is quite good. Jan
  6. All the best in the new year to you all I didn´t have a lot of time, but I made some parts. Lanterns on the sides of the aft are made, and I improved the galion. I think now it is better and is more coresponding with the rest of the ship. Jan
  7. Tops of the galleries are almost finished, I just have to make the edges. Nothing special, just take a shape, produce and glue aproximately 300 pcs of covering, paint it and color edges by the tip of finger... I had nice evenings🥰 And maybe you will notice some decorations on the round gunports😉 Jan
  8. Thanks, friends. Just a small update ( as always😁) I finally start with spiral staircases and tops of quarter galeries. They are just semi products, but the main thing is they fit to their places. And, maybe you can see the place I prepared for the belfry😉 Jan
  9. Simply excellent. A view of what a complete ship would probably look like today. Thanks Jan
  10. Just another small update...the more I work the less is visible....😄 But I´m trying. Jan
  11. AVBiker: exactly as you have. It is clearly visible in the payne´s engraving and here too:
  12. Thank you for your likes, I little improve my decision about the pedestals😁 and at the third attempt made caryatides. They are not as big as it looks. Sorry for my clumsiness😉 Jan
  13. The summer is over, I finally have time to do some progress😃 I´m working on some small pieces - some small windows, stairs, pin rails, and pedestals for caryatids. BTW, I will only work on same smal pieces.... Jan
  14. I´m still continuing ( slowly, but at least you can see some progress ). Some railing around the entries are finished. Now I have a little dilemma: how to make the stairs on the poop deck. On the Payne´s engraving and the Culver´s model they leads over the railing. On the Van Velde´s work they are made in the style of renaissance ( BUT.....the drawing itself is NOT dated, the date 1660 was just based by prof. Callender´s opinion. Van Velde arrived to England probably ten years later, when the ship looks absolutely different, it´s not sure he saw the ship in her original look, his drawing is probably based on Paynes engraving and he add the modern stairs. ) A lot of others models contains various other ideas ( based on the author´s taste ). It is the same case as the belfry and the appearance of the forecastle from the main deck......nobody knows 😉 Jan
  15. Thanks a lot, friends. The railing on the forecastle is placed ( but not finished, there´s necessary to do some parts of decoration ( as on the whole ship😁 ), I made some stairs an the rest of railing from the aft. And I improves some entries. ...and the show must go on.... Jan
  16. Looks very good, but I hope you will add another one layer of planking. I have four layers of paper planking on my ships, as the result the hull is 2 - 2,5 mm thick ( something like paper plywood ) Jan
  17. Perfect work, Patrick. It´s a pleasure to follow. Jan
  18. You are answered already instead of me, thanks a lot. It was beginning of the 16 th century... nobody know if these planks leads straight to forward, or they again divided to two before the bow. The best way is not to complicate the model by unimportant things. What if on the other side of the ship was the planking different ?.... Jan
  19. The railing on the aft is placed and almost finished, I have to do just some improvements. And, finally I made parts of the railing on the bow, now I have to fit them together an then to place them. I forget to bend the front part of it, so I had to make it twice😁 Maybe one day I will do things by the right way😉 Jan
  20. They are joggle planks. They are visible on the rest of bow - they are very eroded, but they are there. Look at the pictures I added. I think some similar of them are on the aft. BTW, look carefully on the hull. No one plank is the same, each one is the original😉 Jan
  21. This is the railing for the half of ship. Now I have to make the another half 😁 Jan
  22. Congratulation on finishing, Steven. It was incredible what you have made - practically from the wreck. I take my hat off Jan
  23. Just a small update. Some kevels, cavals are done, capstan too. And, finally, the first succesfull attemt of railing😊 - now it fits. Now I have to place it all and finish the first part of railing. Jan
