Intead of showing the same thing . I finished the foredeck . I can't show it , but I pinned the cannon  underside , so it manages to move forward and backwards , as well as tilt up or down

Hi, with quite a few HMS Beagle builds going on simultaneously , its interesting to see how different issues are being dealt with , also as to the process of the build . All seem to be doing great. This is my contribution. Installed the stairs and the wheel

The title says it all.  I'm not a huge ship builder, and consider myself very inexperienced.  I look forward to participating!
  5. Thanks!

    Dear friends,
I am very grateful and honored reading your kind words and feel your support. Thank you all very much, I do appreciate your feedback a lot.
Th Royal Katherine has been finished a few days ago, this build took me almost four years and approximate 7000hours of work and studying.

I am sorry that my husband could not see the completion of the model, but he supported me a lot in my hobby and shared the successes and joy of building models with me.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have helped me and followed my work through this forum.
A few days ago there was a nice report about my work on card models on Czech television. It was also dedicated to my husband, with whom I wanted to say goodbye for the last time. You can watch the report here, but it is in Czech languauge:

And here you can see plenty of pics of my largest finished model - the Royal Katherine - I consider her the best ship of all I have ever created:

Got to work on the rudder . In preparing the rudder by shaping the top to fit into the hull , I managed to snap off the top portion. I tried to reattach , but was not very successful. Eventually I attached a short piece of 3mm dowel , pinned a nd glued and that took care of the problem

Hi. Painted and fitted the strips , davits and constructed the transom. Tried my hand at the decorative work with the gardens and brass . Came out pretty good I think  . Onward and upward as it is said....

I applied matt varnish to everything to seal it . Actually made the different colors stand out . Almost seems a sin to paint all over it

Started the top layer of planking . Its a little different to what I had on the last build as this layer is really thin and needs to be handled carefully . once O got used to working with it , steady progress has been made . Just left with the "patching"

Finally finished with the final  planking . Fairly satisfied with the result . Will have to do repairs after the sanding

Sanding done . Had to repair a few places as some of the top layer wood is really brittle , and there seems to be a variety of finishing on the wood. some do not have as good an edge . I'm starting to fit the  ribbons on the outside . To make the bend I used the same template I made earlier that bent the bulwarks and the first planking . Left it in the winter sunshine to dry out before I used it

Finished the repairing and sanding of the hull . I confess I used some woodfiller for the larger areas  before sanding , but guessed as this planking would be covered by another layer it would not be seen. I think it turned out ok . Ready to start the top layer of planking soon.

All the decks set . And the bulwarks came out pretty neat . I will attempt to fit them during this week if life does not get in the way

Placed the bulkheads , lined and coated them with matt varnish. I attached the doors and windows to the relevant bulkheads . and finally got to attach the bow and stern decks , strapped them down to attach securely . Rubber bands work wonders on areas that are not always squared

I have gone ahead and glued the main deck  onto the hull , and clamped it down so as to attach securely
