What a beautiful rig! I wish they had some ships rigged this way sailing today, they must have been very impressive out on the water.

Nice. This model has everything I like in a ship model, congratulations. Nice photos too, its clear you took care in setting up the photos- good lighting, no background clutter.
-
I love the story about the cannonball being retrieved and fired back.

Flags in the Flag Locker, nice!

I'm so pleased to see another model with sails set. And an added bonus: yards braced! I sometimes think people don't understand what the sails do and how they behave. The more brig models I see, the more convinced I am that my next model should be a brig.

Interesting two legged strop on what appears to be one of the backstays on the mizzen channel. Were indebted to you for putting up these great shots. I have never had an opportunity to visit this museum.

Very nice! I am coming around to the view that brigs are the best choice to build: Not to big, not too small, they have all the rigging you could want and they look good. What will you build next?
-
I like your paint job. In particular I think you hit exactly the right note with the deck color. Now you will have to decide what to build next!
-
You have every reason to be proud of this model. I would like to know more about the ship and its construction too.
-
Nice model! I'm so pleased you included the sails.
-
Wow, impressive! Its the perfect ship model.

No tic-tacs either.

That topsail is OUTRAGEOUS!

I still have the game Wooden Ships and Iron Men by Avalon Hill. A flawed game but I used to spend many enjoyable hours with an old pall of mine years ago-once we learned to dispense with some of the rules that slowed or confused game play. As I recall we chucked the "boarding" rules altogether along with the wind change rule. I think the time is right for a new sailing ship game.

Excellent. Is there a better hobby than ship model building? No.

我爱辐透吊索的院子里。这种形式的串通细节,对我来说,最有趣的部分操纵航行的船舶或船舶模型。...

Blow me down!

If there is a better model of the Main anywhere I would be surprised. I can't see how this model could possibly be improved on. I went and saw it at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Museum and in person it is even more impressive. Its in a terrific setting and is really well presented in a new modern sleek museum.

Great! Looks like a ship I would have liked to have built, something in my wheelhouse. What are you going to build next?

Excelent! I love the cutter Le Renard. I'm facebook friends with a guy who lives in Brittany near where Le Renard operated and its clear from this French guys posts that Robert Surcouf is still remembered and highly regarded. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Surcouf

I love the book Sailing Alone Around the World and here is a free streaming online version of the book. The guy doing the reading does a great job and even if you only listen to the first chapter (in which he mentions ship models briefly) you will not have wasted any of your time. http://librivox.org/sailing-alone-around-the-world-by-joshua-slocum/

Whenever I see one of these cross sections it makes me want to do one. Have you seen the childrens book Cross Section Man of War by Steven Biesty? here is a page I found from it on the internet: http://www.subsim.com/books/index_images/manofwar4.jpg
to me it looks vary accurate, considering its a kids book.

Thanks Clare. I am always trying to advocate for ( rabble rouse?) sails on ship models. I hate bare poles. On a cutter or a schooner the sails are so much a part of the visual impression of the actual ship underway that I can't imagine NOT including them. From across the room, a ship model with sails can grab your eye while the same model, bare polled, is nearly invisible above deck level.
