  1. Boyd, thank you for your comment, I appreciate that. My mind was running the same track as what you said about using strips of Lime. I also am thinking of making a pattern and print on a some sheets of Balsa or Bass wood then cutting them out by hand. I also don't like using Acetate, what would be a better material ? Again thank you for your help. One other comment on the Billings for anyone starting the build. Bulkhead # 7 slot in bottom of this bulkhead was not cut deep enough (3 mm short) didn't find the problem until installing the main deck, nothing was lining up took some time to figure out, you can imagine the problem that caused, cutting out all the glue joints to get the bulkhead removed !!! Marty HMS Victory by Billings 1:75 Working on now for two months HMS Victory by Mantua 1:98 Working on for over a year, don't really like this kit ! HMS Endeavour by Artesania Latina 1:60 Still in the box !!

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
