  1. All framed up with spacer Blocks glued in. There is one frame that is going to give me fairing problems. Contemplated redoing but I used epoxy glue on frames and Keelson. Will have to find a way to get around it.
  2. Amazing what info one gets when posting a question on this site. Thanks a lot guys. I am going to test all these suggestions and will hopefully be able to retain a method which suits my ability and tools. Apart from helping me these responses are helping to build info for the MSW site which we sorely need after the loss we had. Thanks again marius
  3. Thanks for coming baack. I get the idea and will try it. marius
  4. Three frames raised thanks to the good wishes from you all. Spend the glue drying time to make myself a mini bench saw based on my lathe which is the remains of an Emco Rex combination machine that fell off my truck .My old 10 Inch Rockwell is just not accurate enough for modelling.
  5. Hi Mati I can spend a lot of time looking at your work. Outstanding. Do you mind sharing your way of making gratings? marius
  6. Hi Matrim I am interested in making the gratings I n Frohlich's way. I there a jig or method to accurately space the saw kerfs? Marius
  7. I would like to make gratings for the Triton cross section the way it is done on Uwek's triton build log. Problem is to get those saw kerfs evenly spaced. Any ideas for a jig or method.? Marius
  8. The moment of truth is approaching. I am ready to start assembling the section after which I will know whether fairing will be successful. Will most probably be finished after the weekend..
  9. Here is the photo again. Cannot let you miss the opportunity to admire it. marius
  10. Welcome ! Now I am not the new guy on the build any more. Would like to see you do it with the Dremel. marius
  11. Sorry about the duplication but I do not seem able to upload a picture. Is there a problem or am I being stupid today marius
  12. Finished all the frames Will most probably redo a couple Made two mistakes Cut to close to the line because I pride myself on my prowess with the Scroll Saw. So I left myself no leeway to correct discrepancies and thus sanded too much wood away. Because I used a thinned down PVA glue I had some distortion when glueing the wet paper to the wood. One of the builds use a combination of masking tape and glue. Will try that next time. Will decide this weekend which frames I am not quite happy with and remake them during the next week and also start on the building board.
  13. Thanks for your comments Annodium Yellow wood has played a very big role in South Africa as furniture and building wood. We do not have a large variety of fine wood and it is getting very scace. Very nice wood to work with marius
  14. Matrim how do I get access to rest of Triton cross sectian plans? Marius
  15. Right here begins my first scratch building POF. Seeing that I know that there are going to be a few mishaps I am using whatever wood I have lying around. The frame I made out of a 100 year old piece of Oregon Pine floorboard and was pleasantly surprised wit the end result and the ease with which the wood worked. There are a few blemishes but that was mainly due to bad glueing procedure. Will redo . The Keel is South African white pear and the keelson and false keel is S.African Yellowwood .I am ready to proceed and am asking for access to the rest of the plans.
