Generally referred to as a sailing outrigger canoe. From Tahiti, thus Polynesian. Used for fishing and local inter-island trade and travel.

Thank you. Typically would have been black spruce, but also any suitable woods that may drift up onto local beaches.

Hi Schooner! I used Edward Wiswesser's one-sheet drawing of a T-2 tanker, but it is very scant in detail. A much better source would be the HABS/HAERS at LOC: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/ca3445/ --I also used these drawings for assistance. Another superb source is the Navsource page for AOs-- I could not have done such a model without such photo-references: http://www.navsource.org/archives/09/19/19idx.htm. Hope this helps! P.S. More Auxiliaries are on the LOC page, including T-3s, etc. etc.
