Looking for a card model of the Arizona
Dion Dunn replied to Dion Dunn's topic in Card and Paper Models
Well, that was an amazing experience. After finally getting the ordering process correct, the kit was shipped on the April 22nd, I got it today, and they even credited my account for overcharging on the shipping. 7 days from Poland. I am not opening the wrapper until I finish my current project, but the stack of paper, frames, and laser cut parts is over an inch thick. My Wife was laughing at me...... -
Lou, you have no idea. I still haven't escaped that part of my life, but I've managed to stay happily married for 25 years.
-
My Wife learned very early on in our relationship that my hobbies are what keeps me sane. On form of driving me insane is more honey-do's. Besides, my other hobby is Porsches, so I always threaten her with either a new performance part for the car, or another model.

Point out the number of man-hours it would take for you to re-create those using paper and how you could spend all of that time with her instead!
-
Thanks for the reply. I've used a lot of Evergreen Canopy glue - on canopies. I've been using Tacky turbo, and it's almost too fast most of the time!
-
Chris - just curious, what do you use for gluing? fine needle point syringe? I never see a single glue mark on any of your pics!

glad you found it. I think we went through the same discovery process. -
Fabulous work Chris. An artist once told me that the best way to judge the quality is to take an up close pictures of one's work, and your work isn't hiding from any cameras!

Chris, the PayPal link is on the last option when the payment options come up. I can't remember what it's labeled as, but it is the one at the bottom exactly where you wouldn't look. -

Issue fixed. American CC company released the pymnt after they sent me a fraud alert, but it was blocked long enough that the Polish company marked it as rejected and couldn't unmark it. I went back in and actually found the obscurely buried link to PayPal, and everything has gone through as of today at Noon. -

Thanks Chuck. It might be. I'm using Google Chrome and entering a Visa. Even though they show Paypal as an option, I can't get it to show up as a selection when it's time to make payment. When I enter my payment info, it takes me to a third party site Przelewy24. That site is supposed to notify GPM of payment. It notifies me that the transaction went through, and I can see the hold on my CC, but when I check with GPM they advise that the payment has not been made. Of course, each communication takes 24 hours because of the time delta. Patience is not my strength when I'm sending this kind of money overseas. 😉 -

Unfortunately I may need to recant this statement. I've been trying and failing to complete an order from GPM or get it paid through their 3rd party transaction system. At this point I'm about to give up and go a different direction. Unless anyone has some 'secrets to ordering from a Polish website when you live in the US", then I'm not sure what else to do. Messages, translations, customer support from both sides - nothing. Apparently, they don't want my money that bad. -

Well, I pulled the trigger and I just ordered the full Arizona set, card, laser, and detail sets. Early Birthday present to myself. Maybe I'll get it done by next year's birthday! -

Thanks Jan. I've owned several BMWs and Porsches, raced a German formula car, and eat a lot of German food. But sadly my German language is relegated to engine and chassis parts. I just registered for that site. Thanks for the link. Chris - I have a basement full of 1/4 scale airplanes including 4 with wingspans of 12-14 ft. What's one more big model to add to the house. LOL -

Wow, that full detail kit for $100 looks pretty amazing, but not sure if I want to pay that amount for that level of frustration, I mean enjoyment. How good are the GMP kits? I just started an HMV kit and am happy with it so far. Hesitant to drop a lot of coin on kits that I'm unfamiliar with at this point unless they come recommended. Dion -

Thank you! I thought I had scoured the GPM site, but things blur together when your reading the iPad late at night.... Chris, I have not tried to contact Roman directly, but will give it a try. Thanks -
I'm looking for a card model of the Arizona battleship. Digital Navy has one, but of course those links aren't working any longer. I've seen one or two pop up on eBay, but they are Chinese sellers. Can't seem to locate any other options on the european sites. Thanks,

HUGE card model gallery -- eye candy galore!
Dion Dunn replied to ccoyle's topic in Card and Paper Models
I've been modeling for most of my life and have pretty much been there, done that on just about every expensive medium that you can think of including several 1/4 scale RC builds. But lately I've been focused on the more obscure ends of the modeling hobby and this whole card/paper modeling world has me hooked. I've built a couple of structures for my HO switching yard railroad from card, and couldn't believe the detail that I could produce using paper instead of wood, plastic, etc. Sites like this as well as papermodelrs.com and many European sites have been fueling my fascination, so thanks to all who have contributed. I've scratch built a number of RC airplanes from doing my own drawings through contest winning subjects, but I will most likely never be able to get to the level of talent seen on these sites, and definitely not to Doris's level. But trying to get there is what it's all about! -

Just went through that site. Absolutely incredible builds over there -
I’ve built some card stock buildings for an HO scale railroad that rival my ‘normal’ buildings. Now I’ve got to try one of these! Great work sir!
