  1. achso , forgot to mention I covered the false keel with deadwood to make it a bit more stylish.
  2. Hello lovelies, here is the news again. I have finished the second planking above the bark timbers. There were problems at the bottom. Unfortunately, I started tapering too late and too hesitantly, which is why the mouldings started to take an S-curve and bulge. So I decided to leave the original and continue from the keel upwards. While the mouldings were drying on the hull before they were glued, the gun ports were made with a cutter knife and file. Which brings us to the next problem, because I measured them incorrectly and unfortunately everything is now 1.5mm too high. This can no longer be changed. A Corel structure like this is not quite as simple as I thought. It seems to me that this is going to be a disaster. But to be honest, that doesn't bother me either, because it makes the learning curve steeper than ever. I'm also not one of those people who would tear everything down again just to iron out the one or two millimetres. It has to look nice in the end and be fun to build until then. This kit doesn't emphasise attention to detail anyway, so I'll go along with the developer and build a creative version. Somewhere in the history I found a date on which the Victory sailed into the harbour from a Baltic Sea voyage totally dilapidated and warped. This will also be the date of my depiction, so we can be flexible. Stay healthy Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
  3. Hey, I think I've found the problem. I enter texts on my PC and pictures on my mobile phone. and I never paid attention to it on my mobile phone, but when editing, the translated text appears, which I then fatally edit unintentionally. Ha, puzzle solved
  4. Hello lovelies, a short interim report on the second planking. As feared, this is proving somewhat difficult. These fibre strips for the first planking are super easy to bend and sand. But unfortunately you can't really get nails or screws into them. So you can only really adjust the mouldings properly where there are frames behind them. The next problem is the age of the nut mouldings. As you remember, the kit is almost 40 years old. They are surprisingly easy to bend, but unfortunately a quick bump with any tool is enough to cause the edges to break out unattractively. Patience is once again the order of the day here. Best regards in the hope that the translator works properly. To be more precise, the input. For some reason, everything is transmitted in German although I enter in English. 5. Guten Morgen zusammen! 6. Hello everyone, The first planking is finished, apart from a few minor details. These fiberboards are quite easy to work with. Unfortunately, they don't have the density of real wood. I've often thought about using real wood. Unfortunately, the nails don't hold properly, which could be detrimental to the subsequent planking. The initial adjustment of the half-guns looks good. The bulkheads still need to be removed where they protrude longer. In the center of the hull, you can see the simple tool for aligning the hole. As usual, everything was done with a scalpel and file. Contrary to the instructions, I have already attached the substructure of the transom. According to the plans and photos I found, the side panels are flush with the hull planking. Logically, however, this is no longer possible after the second planking. In the few existing construction logs, this was then compensated for by adding a side molding, which, however, loses the rounded hull shape. I hope I can do without this bar. Have fun and join us. 7. Machs gut
  8. That's a good question Mikki, for now I will continue working on the Victory. However, after inspecting the display case in which the good piece will be placed here, I came up with a number of plans. A replica of the Mercador Atlas from 1596 will be used to present this ship. Neither of these will fill the display case. So the idea arose to build the Revenge offered by the same manufacturer. According to Wikipedia, these two ships are said to have met at the Battle of Graveline in August 1588. But it will probably take a while, the Admiralty has presented a list of work to be done on the house and yard this year. Greetings Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
  9. Well my Friends, it's done. Better Pictures next Days.
Also habe ich erstmal Spitze aufgenäht. 11. Hello Bob, thanks for your suggestion. It wasn't actually planned to be completely open. Occre envisages half open in the construction plan, probably to have a view of the deck. That's why I had the sails made from silk, which is easier than the original cotton sails. However, I also like the idea of using a small fan to generate wind in the display case. I will simply test both variants, I will not stiffen the fine fabric under any circumstances. Greetings to cold Canada Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
