Hi Chris, I think you we'll be fine. What I did was first gluing the 2nd layer of planks until I had something to fix the bulwarks onto . Then with a little adjustment you can fix the bulwarks. And in the end the backrests of the benches will cover all of you're mistakes 😀.

Fortunately, I'm already well past that fase! Small warning, just wait until you get to the decorations . It's a lot of work, but the end result is very worth it!

Hi Tomek, great tip! Can you tell which brand of gloss varnish you use? Is it rattle-can or airbrush paint?

Nice Start Chris, This is where I am at the moment. I have to say, for a beginners kit I find it quite hard to build. Especially to align everything. I'm curious how you're going to do it.

I look forward to your progress Chris, I have the same package ready and hope to learn a lot from you. 17th century ships are in a class of their own.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! -
Hi Ab, I think you're how to is very inspiring! As a Dutchman I can quite easily read English, but with all the shipping terms it gets quite hard to understand sometimes. Is you're Dutch version of this article still somewhere available? And another question, is there a book or guide for me to learn basic (vintage) shipping basics/terms? Preferably in Dutch. Thanks

New member and brand new (Paper) modeller!
Marcel1981 replied to Marcel1981's topic in New member Introductions
I build 2 HMV kits, a small fishing boat included in the ''Seefalke'' set and the small HMV ferry Adler IV. And now I'm building the Seefalke itself. I started small, my goal is a battle ship and eventually the Seahorse ''Zeven provinciën'' -

Thanks for the link to the article of Ab Hoving GrandpaPhil! I need all the information I can get 😀 -
Hello fellow shipbuilders, I would like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Marcel and I come from the Netherlands. The land of famous shipbuilders. I have been a model maker since my youth (35+ years) and mainly in plastic and building armour. But recently I started making paper model ships, and I think I'm hooked! I am now working on my third ship. I must say that I am quite inspired by the paper projects on this forum. I'm not very good at keeping construction records, but maybe that will come naturally. Greetings from the Netherlands.

You got another follower from a beginner in card modelling. Got to say you're build logs are very inspiring. As a dutch man I really like the subject. Coincidentally, I ordered the seahorse Duyfken at the beginning of this week. My wish is to eventually build the Seven Provinces of seahorse. Good luck waiting for your order 😁

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
