    I am new to the forum. I’m not sure this thread is where to ask this question: I am looking at Bluenose model kits and I see LOA. Is that just hull length or does it include bowsprit?

    I’m new to the forum. I’m interested in building a fishing schooner (Grand Banks or Gloucester type). I think I’d be OK with intermediate to advanced. Any suggestions?

    Brand new member here. I am hoping for some guidance on a kit for a Grand Banks schooner. Other than the Blue Nose which seems to be the go to. I think I could manage anything intermediate to advanced. Any suggestions?

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
