@Knocklouder What you wrote perfectly describes the spirit of MSW. Knowledge passes from one builder to another, and that’s what makes this place so special. Your log already helped me, and I truly hope mine will be useful to someone in the future as well. I know that “o boy, what have I done” feeling very well already 😄 but that’s part of the adventure. I’m honored that you’ll be following my build. Thanks again for your kindness and inspiration. Cheers!

Thank you very much, Bob! Congratulations on finishing your Pegasus - it’s a beautiful ship and a great achievement I completely agree, the build logs here are an incredible source of knowledge, and I’m already learning a lot from them. I’m really enjoying the build so far and looking forward to sharing my progress! Thanks again for the encouragement - it means a lot coming from someone who has just completed this model Best regards, Aleksey

Hello! thank you very much for your Pegasus build log) Your work is impressive for its precision, consistency, and great attention to detail. The way you carefully document and explain each stage makes your build extremely useful and inspiring. I am currently building Pegasus myself, and your log has already become an important reference for me. Many of the techniques and solutions you show are truly valuable. Thank you for sharing your experience and setting such a high standard of craftsmanship 😉

Hello everyone! My name is Alexey I would like to briefly introduce myself and share how I came to this hobby, and why I chose to build the Pegasus! I caught the ship modeling “bug” back in my teenage years - around the age of 14. A big influence on this was the computer games Corsairs and Corsairs 2. At that time, I was completely immersed in fantasies about that era - ships, the sea, sails, and voyages. The dream of building my own ship model settled very deeply in my mind. So deeply, in fact, that at the age of 15 (in 2004) I tried to bring this dream to life. Over the course of about six months, I built a ship entirely from oak, completely from scratch. During summer vacations I lived in a village near a pond and an oak forest, where I carefully selected suitable branches for the frames. Looking back now, it brings a smile to my face - but at the time, it was all very serious 🙂 Then adult life began: university studies, work, and constant busyness! But, as often happens, the dream never disappeared. I always knew that one day I would buy a kit, proper tools, and finally build a model I could truly be proud of. That moment came when, for my 36th birthday, my wife gave me my first and only ship kit - the Pegasus by Amati. This gift turned out to be more than just a material one; it was deeply symbolic. A dream that had lived with me for over 20 years finally took shape) Perhaps I did not choose the easiest model to build. I am well aware of that, but I work on it with great enthusiasm and motivation. I sometimes deviate from the instructions, adding my own ideas and small reconstructions. I want to create a ship with personal character, adding details that feel appropriate to me. At the same time, I try to keep a balance. I enjoy looking at how professional ship modelers build their models and occasionally take inspiration from their solutions, but I also understand that overloading the model with details is not the right path for me yet -my skills are still developing! And perhaps the most important thing: when I find some free time and return to the build, I feel as if I am once again that 15-year-old boy, dreaming about ships and the sea...! That feeling is one of the main reasons why I am here! I am glad to be part of this community and I will be happy to share my building progress

Hello everyone, I would like to share my ongoing build of HMS Pegasus (1776), a Swan-class sloop, based on the Amati 1:72 kit. The build was started in January 2025 The model is already well underway. While starting from a kit, I am making extensive modifications, including replacing photo-etched decorations with hand-carved wooden elements, improving historical accuracy where possible, and enhancing many details by hand. The model is still under construction. I will update this log as the build progresses. Thank you for your interest!
