Bugger!!!    I'm such a genius of a model maker that I only need to mark one face of my frames on my plan; so naturally when I marked out the forward cant frames I measured from the wrong side of the frame and the rabbets I cut were all 1/8" too far aft, so I've had to re-do them and the rabbets are now twice as wide as they should be.  The mistake will be hidden once the model is planked, and all I have to do is to make sure the cant frames are hard against the forward edge of the rabbets when I fit them, but it's still really annoying!!!

Here are my extra wide cant frame rabbets (just don't tell anyone I'm such a muppet!)

At least I've got some more frame blanks cut out.  Very soon I'm going to have to make up a framing jig and start cutting out and fitting frames.

The frame blanks that I've made so far.

thanks Sjors update follows as requested

    thank you Don

thanks Bug . you don't have to wait long its already underway

    thanks dragzz

after lots of sanding on the first layer to get most of the unevenness out I added some filler

after a bit more sanding I felt I had a smooth enough base for the second layer
I also made sure the bow and stern edge was the required width of 4 mm , this to ensure that the back and front bit of the keel will fit nicely

I have started the second layer and added the first few planks
I decided to use some cheap masking tape (useless for fine paint jobs) to hold the planks in place till they dry as I did not want to experiment with CA
so far this is going well

    Little update.

The bulkheads are in place and glued.
The lower gun deck is also in place.
Glued the bow cheeks and the support at the stern
Next thing to do are the support for the false canons and painting......
A part of the lower gun deck will be planked .
Only what you can see from the upper deck, the rest will be painted black.
And of course ,what is a build with our breaking something......
I have break two tops of two frames
Glued them again and I have to see how i can place a support on it.

    thanks Augie and bug

    second layer is progressing well

I have used some P180 sandpaper on the first few planks and I am amazed how smooth it feels quickly and so far I can see that only a minimal amount of filler will be needed to have a good surface for painting

tomorrow is the first work day this year an dhow I am looking forward to it .... not
the next 2 weeks I will slowly work on the planking . then I will have 2 weeks of real holidays in which I am hoping I will have plenty of time to start on painting the hull which I think after the planking will be the most difficult to get right

Bowspit cap, and horses and netting. As I said to slog I attached the blocks first to the cap. I've been dreading this part for years, but it came off quite easily really, only a days work in it for the netting.

Last post of the year I promise! Bit of serendipity today as I actually read the plans and looked at the replica and the Topgallant shrouds have no ratlines! I'm finished with them! Shrouds and backstays in place. Lots of work on the bowsprit before I can add the last stay. next year it is.

There is a sense of achievement finally fitting the topgallants. The topgallant futtock shrouds and thimbles were attached first which gets really fiddly seizing them properly to the Topmast shrouds. Strangely, the masts ended up aligned! 12 shrouds and 4 backstays to go. Finally given the Endeavour's strong ties to Australia, a boxing day BBQ is always on the cards, so the BBQ photo.

Hope you all had a happy Christmas.

    Hello dear friends
your words mean a lot for me, thank you all for the posts and support,  that´s a great honour for me.

Well, finally I have decided to cover the cabins, but I suppose this will be the most practical. Everything inside is clearly visible through the windows.

The ceilings are made of pale squares (to reflect the light) , some of them are decorted with gilded ornaments.

Here are the newest pics, so you can enjoy them.

    Best regards,
    Doris

    Hello dear friends,

I am very impressed reading your posts, thank you a lot for your attention to my build and kind words. I am sure, there are a lot of stunning shipbuilders at MSW - much better than me, I also draw inspiration from their work and am grateful that can be here with you. Thank you very much for this oportunity.

The idea  - to make clear area in the roof  - is very good and I am thinking about it.

I have other pics for you, this time my husband took photos, so here are some of them. Now I am preparing the support structure for the roof in rear cabin.
    Please enjoy them:

    Dear friends,

first I want to wish you all the best for the New Year.

I am pleased and honoured reading your posts, thank you very much for your support and feedback. I appreciate it a lot.
Well, I build paper models over 30 years and still there are plenty of things, I could make better. The most important is - to do it with love.

Yesterday I finished the cabins, so I am bringing now many pics and you can enjoy the atmosphere of luxury interior in Royal Caroline yacht. I do not have exact description or plans of real cabins (suppose it does not preserved), so I created it by my own imagination and taste.

About removable roofs - it is a question - of course this could be interesting opportunity to watch the interior in a full detail, but the ship will have complete masts and rigging so that makes impossible to move/remove the decks and roofs. I did not thought about this solution.
BTW, all is visible through the windows, especially after lighting.

    Hello dear friends!
I am very impressed reading your feedback, thank you very much for your appreciation and kind words.
I am also pleased and honoured that my work attracted other women - your wives. I like ship modeling, but there are only few women in our country, who also enjoy this hobby.
Please convey my cordial greetings to your wives.

And now what´s new on RC
The main cabin is almost finished; chairs, table and other furniture and decorative items are already in place, I improved baroque clock and now preparing a final decoration ....

    From the process:

Please enjoy the pics, after finishing the interior I will take a lot of new photos and put them here.

    Hello dear friends!
I am pleased reading your posts, that is a great honour for me and appreciate your favor a lot.

Thank you very much for your support and kind words.
I have also found plenty of marvelous inspiration here at MSW watching your masterpieces and this helps me to achieve better results in my work.

I am still learning and trying to improve, nobody is perfect. Some details in the cabins were replaced and I am going to change some others, couse in the larger pics I can see various mistakes and I am sure, it is possible to make it better.

Now I am making chairs, some of them are almost finished. In the end I am going to decorate all these chairs with tiny gilded ornaments. The upholstery is made of blue-gray suede.
