  1. Greetings,

I am contemplating building the treaded 1/200 Missouri by Trumpeter. If you can spare the time, I would appreciate

you fielding a couple of questions on this kit.

I know how long the model is but how high is it from keel to whatever is highest. My commodore has asked "where am I going to put it" A reasonable request.

How would you rate the kit 20 & 40mm guns compared to Veterans (or others) PE?

When I was building my 1/350 Alaska I accumulated a pretty good amount of aftermarket PE and, as you know, that supply can come in handy on other projects. I don't contemplate more than one 1/200 build so I'd like to be a bit more selective on aftermarket purchases.

Thank you for your time and sharing all the helpful information in your building logs. You set a high standard to follow.

    Regards, Harley

I will be kitbashing the 1/350 Hobby Boss USS Arizona, I got some very detailed Russian plans in Polish/English to use as a guide. It will be expensive because of all the 3D printed goodies, but I have a passion for Idaho and the resin USS New Mexico is $350

  3. Greetings COG,

I am building 1/350 USS Alaska. This is the first plastic model I've done in many years and most extensive use of photo etch for me. I have used acrylics for the paint job.

I noticed one of your comments on RGL's Fletcher referred to spraying the model with a clear mat finish. Is that an acrylic finish or would it be compatible with acrylics?

Any advise you can give is appreciated. BTW, I like your "rank"

    Thanks

    Regards, Harley

  6. Greetings,

I am working away on the Confederacy. Your model is a real inspiration particularly because of the rigging.

I obtained rigging plans for a 40 gun frigate, circa 1790, by Harold Underhill. May I ask the scale of the rigging

plans you used. Did you, by chance I hope, keep a log of the dimensions of the masts and spars on your model?

I realize I'm asking a lot but any information you can share at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Regards, Harley
