Hi Mark,
To cut out my ports I used a Razor Saw which I'd ground a section about 50mm long off the end until it was only a couple of millimetres wide. This lets me get into some really tight places .

I guess I ought to explain what happened on the broken frames. To make the gunport, the red area has to be removed. Actually, slightly more that that. The ports are currently 8mm wide and they need to be 9mm wide. The frames are 3/16" (about 4.5mm) wide and approximately 1/8" (3mm) thick at the gunport area. The markings on the frames are for the wales and the cutline. All markings were done before the frame was installed.
Hahn installs his frames and spacers and then cuts and removes the waste (red area). How he removed that block, I have no idea.
What I did, was make the cuts at top and bottom. Then apply alcohol to the port area, wrap in a soaked paper towel scraplet and then plastic wrap and let it sit. The glue softens and also, so does the wood. When I pulled the waste out, on 3 pieces, the frame broke in the area of the green arrow. On two of them, it was in the area of the blue arrow, which I've since tested, could have been repaired.

Minor milepost... all the full frames have been cut, installed and spacers added. The five broken ones have been replaced along with slapping myself upside the head when I realized two of them could have been repaired.
I've started "pre-fairing" in that I'll sand it pretty close to fair except for the frames at the end, get the keel and keelson notches flat and fair, and then tweek the keel's rabbet to account for the changes the garboard strake will have to follow. I'm also sorting out the inboard side as far as fairing. The end frames will be faired in once the keel and keelson are installed and the cant frames are done.
And yes, it continues to be a fun ride.

Hello Everyone... I'm back in the dry dock yard after almost 4 weeks sailing around the Mediterranean. It was a wonderful holiday having visited many countries some of which were new to me and the admiral. Somehow, however, I managed to aggrivate my bad back and came home with a lot of pain and with a struggle to walk. I have started the doctor visits and will take one step at a time. In the meantime I have been given some pain pills which I'm sure will make me high and a danger when it comes to ship model building. So until better things happen, I'll work on the Victory until I can't stand the pain anymore and then take a pain pill and retire for the day.
I have worked on the rigging some more. The Fore Topmast, The Foretopgallant, The main Topmast and the Main Topgallant yard Sheets and cluelines are finished. The mizzen yards are next and then it's off to the braces.
I hope everyone is well and there have been no tragedies while I was away.

I believe this will be the last post until I return from my trip. I thought I'd help the admiral pack today but she shooed me out of the room so I tried to get a bit more work done on Victory. The sheets and clue lines for the Fore topmast and fore topgallant yards are completed, the ship has been blessed and covered and until July 11th, adios amigos.

Hello Everbody... It's only 3 days until we fly to Barcelona but I'v tried to keep busy and get some more work done on Victory. There's nothing else to do anyway as the Admiral, God bless her, takes over all the sorting and packing duties and I just stand around and ask dumb questions. So I decided to keep going on Victory and managed to get a little more done today. It was the spiritsail and spiritsail top sail yards that got my attention. I manged to finish rigging their lift, bunt, sheets and cluelines today and I hope the attached photos will give some idea of what was done. I don't have the luxury of a professional camera so my Samsung cell phone does all the work, good or bad. If I do anymore chores in the drydock and get the chance, I'll try and post again before we leave.

Hello Everyone. The trials and tribulations of the Jerry dry dock continue....Today, after much deliberation and consultaion, I decided to rig the Main Yard bunt lines and leech lines. There is a very confusing situation here as the manual dictates that the buntlines are not belayed in the proximity of the Main Mast. In other words, while the lift lines come down to the deck to belaying points adjacent to the Main mast, the bunt lines pass under the Main Top and then double back and run forward to be belayed to pins at the foot of the Foremast. This didn't seem correct but after some conversation and studying it has proven to be correct.. During this operation I had the unfortunate occurrence of a 3mm block come loose from under the Main top. This is one that is a double and has both buntlines pass through it. So I struggled for quite sometime to reattach it, all the time trying not to have the buntline threads fall out of it. It was a happy moment when it was back in place and I could continue on with my work. So the lift, bunt and leech lines are now rigged for the Main Yard.
The tails of all the lines are now beginning to accumulate all over the deck so I think that before going much further I will have to begin the coiling operation.

Hello Everyone.. Just a few more photos to bring the shipyard up to date. I've been working on the lifts. buntliones and leechlines and am presently working on the Main yards. These lines for the foreyards have been completed. I don't have too much to comment about except it's a little each day. However, stringing these lines under the tops is the most difficult part and I highly recommend a bead stringer for this process. Here are the latest photos. Oh yeah, my Victory has a pug nose.

Good evening everyone.
A little more to report on this late afternoon here in Florida. Today I have mounted the Spiritsail topsail; yard. The directions are in the manual but an awful lot of studying is required to understand them. There was no problem in placing the parral bead sling as it went very well. However, trying to understand the making and installation of the two 3mm block halyard was another story for me. I wish that the kit manufacturer would be more explanatory and provide a few decent diagrams or photos...no such luck! BUT, that's where MSW shines and Gil and David's sites have come to the rescue once more. So the outcome is the yard is attached, photos provided, and tomorrow I'll tackle the Spiritsail Yard (The big one.) Good afternoon everyone and greetings from jerry's drydock. A bit more progress from the little guys working fervently on Victory. Today it was mounting and rigging the Crossjack yard on the mizzenmast. In my opinion this task was more difficult then any of the other lower yards because of the tight quarters one has to work in. For the first time I found my fingers getting in the way of rat lines, stays and shrouds so I slowed down the pace and eventually was successful. The next job will be making, mounting and rigging the the Mizzen topmast yard. Attached are a few pictures of my work of today.

Hello everyone. It's Sunday evening and I realized that I have a some pictures of the latest progress from the dry dock. Unfortunately, I ran into a physical problem like friend Lawrence so I couldn't get any work done over this weekend. I developed a good case of a stiff neck and for the past 2 or 3 nights I haven't been able to get much sleep so I felt it best to give the build a rest. That's what one gets from sitting low and working high. (High as in height, LOL) I guess looking up for some time caused this pain I have in my neck so it's a rest for the build and one for me too. But since the last post I have finished mounting the Main Yard in place complete with sling, truss pendants and Jeers. Hopefully I'll feel better soon and can get into the dry dock again. I hope these pics make sense.... and for captions don't forget to run your mouse over the photo.. Best to all.

Hello everyone..
Here's an interim report on progress from the drydock....I'm happy to say that the Foremast yards are tied in place, a bit askew, but that will be easily corrected as soon as the yard lifts are rigged. It's been a wee bit tricky rigging some of these yards as access to some of the 3mm blocks was difficult. Again, the bead threader saved my behind. Here are a few more photos and I apologize for some lack of clarity on one or two. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

..Thank you all for the comments and likes, as always they are appreciated and very motivating..
As I went along with the carvings they became a bit more “challenging” and the ornaments are certainly not replicas of the original. The techniques i used are similar to what I have described before. Down below a few pictures to illustrate the progress.

in a closeup you will notice that "Abachi" might be a bit too grainy for this job.

Thanks !!, luckily everything turned out “ok” after the repair.
So continuing with the galleries..
When using the provided bases, the middle base (the top one in the picture) is far off, so i decided to make a better fit.
I planked the gallery like it was a hull.
I always had the intention to used the supplied casted gallery ornaments, but now after having “some experience” with woodcarving, i decided to give it a try to carve my own.
I started by cutting the rough outlines and made sure it fitted "perfectly".
I then copied all the gallery lines and used this as the “base shape” for the ornament.
And started carving ..
As you might notice, I’m still using abachi wood, as this wood is very soft it will break easily when trying to carve very thin surfaces or very fine details.
I found a nice solution to prevent this from happening:
When dripping very thin CA glue onto the wood it will immediately be drained completly into the wood and it hardens the wood quite well.
I agree that it slightly colors the wood, but it is not that bad anymore after carving ..
Same thing for the top ornament ..

It actually looked worse than it is.
I’m already quite busy in repairing the damage, only the rails can’t be saved and I need to rebuild them.
On top of this I had some minor damage to some of the cannons and staircases.
In all it could have been much worse ..

Every model builders nightmare just happened…
I still don’t know what happened and I’m still in shock..
During the build of the galleries I removed her from her working stand and had her lying on the table.
Suddenly without any sign she tipped over and fell from the workbench on the floor.
.. and I was not even close to her..
An major setback…

Sorry mate no secrecy at all.
My wife was given 2 rolls of calico by the chemist at the place she worked as a purchasing officer. The rolls are about 1m in width.
I cut about 2m off one roll, to make sure the calico did not shrink I washed it and let it dry then washed it again and let it dry.
I cut the pattern of the sails out, then stitched them up.
Next job was boil 1lt of water add 3 teabags leave for 20 minutes take teabags out let water cool.
Put sails in for two and half hours, take out and lay flat to dry.
Sew 1.75mm rope to the top of the sail with invisible thread.
Sew to yard/spar with 0.30mm rope.
Wet sail then furl and tie them off with 0.10mm rope. Mix PVA glue up with water 50/50 apply to sail let it dry.

Here are a couple more minor kit issues.
The middle gun deck is supplied pre-cut with a rounded bow section. However, as you can see, the rounded bow section will clash with the front bow filler block. The solution is to simply cut the deck and discard the piece.
The keel describes a sloppy fit with the false keel. After checking with the plans, and confirming that the top of the keel is supposed to rise to the level of the main deck (if the bowsprit wasn't in the way), I shaved away the area painted in red. I now have a perfectly fitting keel.
The kit doesn't include a mizzenmast support, so I fabricated one and installed it.
My wife returned from a day of shopping to find that I had turned nearly every spare inch of floor space into reading space for Royal William plans! She was not very impressed, especially since I had not kept the modelling door closed and the dust was in the main living area. I had to put a stop to my modelling and vacuum the house.

My kit room has been tidied and prepared for the new build. It won't look as neat as this for another three years. Let's go!!!
The room has been re-arranged with the power tool bench behind me, and the main modelling table in front of me. All I need to do is turn around to have access to power tools. The desk by the window is where I will do all the Dremelling. Not pictured is my new shelving unit where all my tools, paints, and glues are neatly stowed away. Also not pictured is the clipboard where the plans will be displayed.
