Hi, i know a bit of sailing terminology and understand the basics of small scale sailing but have taken an interest in 18th century naval, such as man o wars and the greatness of the births navy. I was just wondering if someone could inform me the basic orders that would be given on deck of a vessel by the captain / bosun. I know there’s endlsss amounts so would just like to know basic commands to stop, speed up, leave harbour. Anchor up. Turn Port and starboard. Clewing up lines / sails Firing / reloading cannons. Simple stuff like that

You can find a basic summary (about 300 pages) in John Harland's Seamanship In The Age Of Sail.  Very nice descriptions and diagrams for ship handling.
