Does anyone have a better idea for drilling treenail holes without drilling through the frame?

I will probably use 1/32 dia brass for treenails, but I dont want it to penetrate all the way through the frame.

I plan to use a 1/32 diameter drill with a piece of tubing bonded onto it at a set depth of .175 from the drill point.

Ken,why not just push your drillbit into the pin vice chuck until only .175" protrudes. That´s what I do to control depth,no need to glue tubing on then.

I wrap masking tape around the drill bit to act as a depth stop.
