Thank you Mr. Plum, that was a fun build to 'watch', and all from start to finish in one page. :)

Very precise work and it looks great. You must get some serious tension on those cords for clamping/holddown... I have not had similar success with that method. Is there a secret I've missed?

Hello Randy.

There is no secret, I just bend the strips before gluing by using hot steam, hot water or at the moment solder heating till they have specyfic shape and they match like a puzzles or nearly - see photo no7.

Thanks Randy for comment.

So essentially what you're saying is the strings are not high tension, they are merely positional to hold the piece in place as it is made to fit precisely... like a puzzle. Makes sense and I do try for that as well with water and hot iron... my incorrect impression was I thought that the strings asserted more tension than they do... thanks for the explanation

I for one think you did an excellent job, she looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing your technique with all of us for bending the strips of wood. Post more pictures if you have them.

Mr Plum

What a beautiful boat. I am looking for plans for either a junk or sampan for my next build. Can you please advise if you had a set of plans and if so, where did you get them.

regards
