The drawings are lacking and I have questions on the item on the deck that is between the foremast and the front of the ship.  What is it used for?  If anyone has built this ship, I would very much like to ask you a few questions.

Yes the first is a windlass that comes in two pieces and has to be glued together, you only can see half of it in the plans becuses of course that view of the deck is only half view. as for the second I'm not sure on that one, could it be a drain off the deck?

Regards, Scott

I would like to thank everyone for your help.  I sent an e-mail to Mamoli and here is there response.
In the pictures attached, one is of the bow where there is a hole.  Can you tell me what this hole is for? DON'T DO ANY HOLE PLEASE FOLLOW THE DRAWINGS
The other picture is of the deck and there is something between the post and the windlass.  Can you tell me what it is? Don't warry it's nothing.
On the box cover, the ship is painted.  As you used different woods to build the hull, should the ship be painted or left with the natural wood look? Is at your own discretion or raw or how you prefer color it.

I have decided to paint the masts, fore arms, gun holders and a few other items on the deck.  I am still a long way from finishing but will post it when finished.

Thanks again.
