Heat treating polyester thread

I'm about to make rigging thread using polyester thread. Read some time ago that heat treating the rope can preventing it from unwinding the rope.

 

But the question is how to heat treat it? What temperature and for how long? (Think chuck made a tread long time ago but for the life of me I can't find it anymore)
