The last I saw it the cost was $70 with the sale code- so now might be the best time to get it.

Hello Tim,excellent work on your build so far.The thinks that scares me most about my future build are the bearding and the rabbet line.

Tim,

Thanks for your build log. I just started my pinky build and appreciate your head start. Back in Feb. you were asked about cutting the rabbit after the keel, etc. was glued on. I too followed the directions and it came out fine (that's all I've done so far), but all through the process I thought it would have been easier and cleaner to cut the rabbit before gluing on the other pieces. The slot is basically a taper on the center frame that abuts the keel, etc. easier to cut the taper without the keel, stem, and skew. Since I didn't do that I can't tell you which method is better.

I took Glad Tidings on as a summer project after working on a Syren build all winter. It clearly will not be done this summer!

Guest Tim I.

Tim,

Just getting caught up on your build log. I am also working on the Glad Tidings. The half hulls and the spieling of the planks were also a challenge for me, but I found in my experience that the templates included in the plans are very close and workable.

I look forward to watching your Glad Tidings come together!

Hey Alde

My pinky has sat for a long time now. Not much has been done in well over a year, and the hull still sits with just those few planks on.

I haven't been on the forum for a while. Now that I see you are gettting your pinky started maybe that with get me going again.

My time has been occupied with another 1:1 build, and it is done and sails and rows well - all this past summer - but now I'm building a new rig for it, so the gunning dory "Lark" is still on the front burner for now.

Take a peek if you would like: https://gunningdory.wordpress.com/2014/08/09/3/

best of luck with your pinky build.

Tim

Heck, a 1/1 build is still a build. Your Pinky will be there when your ready. I will look in now and then to see if you are back to it.

Tim, I have been studying your planking runs and have decided I need to adjust my battens a bit. I picked up some chart tape to use instead of wood with pins. It might be easier to do fine adjustments. I think what I have done so far is going to work but if I keep going without lining off for each plank like you did I will run out of real estate. I will use tick strip and proportional dividers. You pictures have been very instructional. Thank you.
