Hello

Can someone explain me what dos sizes means

I broked my rudder hengin and i need to buy set of 3 to my bounty 1/100 of mamoli

Hi

I think I have got this right..

4 is the thickness of your rudder.

15 is the length over all .pivot to end of strap

2.5 is the height of the brass. I.E. This is made from a strip of brass 2.5 mm

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Basically for the best results you'll need to silver solder using a combination of brass plate, brass tube and brass rod. There are lots of examples on this forum if you want to do the research on this, and most use the same kind of approach. To cut strips of brass it is best to glue brass sheet (which you can buy as shim sheet or from a hobby shop) to wood so that the brass does not curl up as you cut. However it is fairly easy to cut thin brass sheet with heavy scissors or kitchen scissors.

You said the scale was 1:100? I wouldn't bother with the brass and soldering and all that fuss at this small scale. You can use some heavy black paper or card stock to fashion some very serviceable rudder hinges, unless you want the rudder to be movable. Otherwise, use some metal pins embedded in the rudder to fasten it to the stern post. The rudder should stand off the stern post about .5mm or so. Space the pins at the hinge locations so they will be hidden by the hinges. The hinges can easily be formed from the paper or card stock and glued to the hull and rudder as appropriate. Most rudder hinges (called pintels and gudgens) supplied with model kits are way out scale. The card stock is about right for small scale ships.
