Benjamin W Latham - Model Shipways - 1:48

Photography from another model retrieved from my files.

I had a lot of fun on this one adding a fair number of scratch built details. The towed seine boat was an especially rewarding project.

Beautiful work on the model, and I love the glass waterline display. A very elegant way to show the entire hull and still visualize it in its native environment. Well done.

You did a very fine job with all the details. I agree with the comment by Whitejamest on that glass waterline that lets you see how it sits in the water and yet still reveals the details of the hull below.  It just shows the details that can be done at the larger scales where you don’t have to just fudge a rough representation of them.  It allows the sails to appear more realistic as finding material thin enough to be in scale with the rest of the ship is nearly impossible when working at the smaller scales.  The fact that you included a figure at the helm also gives the viewer a good sense of the overall size of the ship.
