Hi Robin. yes, I paid €58 for the ship. The air mail was an additional €30. His comms, as you say have been great so far. I'll have a search on the site. I'm currently doing Hmcs Snowberry (the 1/72 Revell kit) to fill in and practise my airbrushing. Hopefully I won't take too long doing it as I'm looking forward to the Dusek build. Gaz.

Hi. Has anyone had any dealings with the above kits? I've ordered a 1/72 Viking Knarr to get me started into the world of wooden kits. (It looks fairly simple) Cost was €88 including €30 priority shipping. Cheers. Gaz.

In between all this I became a dad too. Here's Alice. Scratch built too, only my wife helped on this project.

Hello all. Everyone probably forgot about this one it's been that long. Hope everyone is well! I fanally finished her and handed her over to my dad. Here she is.

Thank you Patrick. I'm trying my best and I appreciate the comments. Hi Bob. I got the wasp printed at Shapeways.com They already had it on file in 1/96th and 1/72nd. I've been hunting for one for ages and they basically saved my bacon. Cost was around €40 but well worth it.

The deck is finally done. Just the handrails to go ( they will be last ). Also, the 3d printed Westland wasp has arrived!

A bit more progress today. I fitted the superstructure with some powerful magnets to hold it to the deck. Anchor ports cut and filled. Main gun attached using a dowel so I can turn it and remove it. Lots of sanding/filling etc to go yet.

Hello all and hope everyone had a good Xmas. I finally had some time back on the build and managed to push it along. Got some fine detail work done, and corrected some errors since finally getting my hands on the original shipwrights drawings from the maritime museum. The deck is now in place and I'm filling and sanding it all into shape over the next couple of days. Hopefully I'll get some paint on it before I return to work on Monday.

Hi all. Just checking in as I haven't been on here for a while. The project is on hold as I've been mega busy setting up my new business. I will resume the build very shortly. Cheers Gary.

More details going on. Sighting platforms, bridge wing nav light chambers. A bit of filling here and there on some marks I noticed. The rear mast is too high also. I'll have to cut it down by around 10mm and re do the top. The anchor ports on the hull will be next up.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
