SawdustDave got a reaction from Laurence_B in Sovereign of The Seas by SawdustDave - FINISHED
These two figures will stand atop the middle roof of the portico....
It appears the male figure on the right is giving some sort of signal to the enemy on behalf of King Charles....
King Chuck was a real hoot.

The chain you made looks great Nenad! I agree with you about just ordering the smaller size, as I don't think anybody could scratch-build a chain that small. I'm glad you're feeling better my friend, and we're all praying for you and your family.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for just being here arround
She is feeling subjective better, and sun shines, so I feel better too, and find a will to go down to finish second anchor chain
This macro shot shows original Coin and prepared coin before knoting
Chains are a little more than 1mm thick, and I think right in scale considering windlass

What a warm and wonderful "family" we are a part of here on MSW. Much more than just a bunch of builders of fine model ships.

Excellent question David. Always assumed vinyl....but just checked with a Google search and found that they are indeed listed as PVC in their spec sheet.
Not really much difference.... actually, PVC and vinyl are technically two different names for essentially the same material.... Polyvinyl chloride.

Spent the morning on this little 5/8th" lion.... again, the Levolor vinyl blind slats have become my choice of carving material, which cuts like butter and has zero grain. The metallic gold paint adheres perfect and a couple of coats gives this nice smooth finish.
The shape of the body and legs not too bad, but you will have to use a little imagination on the head.

Going through several of the ancient kits, donated by modelers for the exhibition, looking for anything I can bash for the SOS, I came across these strange little pieces.... not sure what they were intended for.
What catches my eye is the small scroll patterns, which I'm sure I can find a use for.
