  1. I know exactly what you mean.  I like to do some occasional wood working and the same thing happens there.  That is one reason I'm starting off with some simple models first before tackling this one.  ( I did get this one too not  long ago, along with a couple of other simple wood kits.)   I think it takes some practices to get the techniques down.

Update:  I wanted to add that I think you're off to a good start. It's looking really good so far.

  2. Stern looks good too.   Isn't that the suggested stern by Blue Jacket?    I know they based the model on a lot of work by Arnot so it is probably pretty close to what you want.

My kit is the 1970's version that I hope to update to something close to the modern version like yours.  This will mean carving or routing out  space for the gun deck. Since on that version the gun deck guns were simply pins you pushed into the hull.  I'd prefer a built out deck like the new kit.

  3. I recenly bought a Revell kit of the Cutty Sark off ebay on a whim.  Model number H368.  This is the 24 inch version of the model.    I've seen quite a few pictures of smaller models ( mostly wood) and the larger 1/96 (3 ft) model.  I like the size of the model.   24 inches is large enough to show detail but not so large as to dominate the whole room. Has anyone built this kit? Looking for pics and pointers.

    Thanks
