I'm at the bulwarks now. Definitely using John's instructions as well as your pictures to help me along. I will post pictures on my build site as soon as I can.

I have been thinking ahead on how I am to attach the Bulwarks. Should I have left a row of hull planks off to allow these to be attached?

Thanks! Sure is a lot of time that goes into sanding and filling.

Attached are some pictures on the progress of the hull preparation. 

I'm currently building the same model and I ended up with small gaps in the planking. Since it is my first wood model build I have just filled the gaps and I'm in the process of sanding the complete hull smooth for this build as I had a lot more planks on than you do before I noticed.

Took your advice and removed the nails. They came out pretty easy. Now its time to fill and sand.

Sorry I had to step away for awhile. I'm now back to the bench hoping to move forward with this build. Now that I have read through a lot of different build logs and such, putting all those pins in maybe was not such a good idea. I'm going to try removing them and sanding the hull smooth. I will post another pick as soon as I get some of it done. 

This is my first build log as well as my first wooden ship. I've had this ship for a couple of years now, received it as a birthday gift. Due to nerves I think this may be the reason it took me so long to get started. Finally I figured since this is my first wooden model I would just go for it and see what happens.

So far I have completed the laying of the planks on the port side of the hull and I'm now working on the starboard side. If anyone has any tip or suggestions I'm ready to hear.

Very Nice! I'm starting to build the Bluenose II for my first wood model. Just wondering what you used for painting the hull?
