Mick,
Good work......keep telling yourself...'small parts are fun'...'small parts are fun''small parts are fun''small parts are fun''small parts are fun''small parts are fun'

And did I say, small parts are fun????
Wait a minute.......is that a fly buzzing around my head????
There's that spinning thing again........ :o
Cheers,
Jim
Got to watch out....they are peeking in the window!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Adrieke,
Good progress!
You could be like Sjors and just avoid the stairs for a long time like he is avoiding ratlines...... :D :D
On another note, I tried to sign up for that site and, as of yet, cannot sign on....
Cheers,
Jim

Jared,
Out of curiosity, is your main deck flat? I had to layer some progressively shorter pieces and then sand them in order to put a slight slant in the bow and stern main deck....
My paddlewheel section was open to the edge and I had to add the bracing on the outside.

Jared,
Scale is a bit confusing...... my Bob is shown as 1/160 (very close to 'n' scale.....)
Yours appears to be almost identical.....
Hmmmmmmmmm...........
Jim
-
Jared,
Unfortunately I lost the pics of my early construction..... ....
The Main deck was four very thin pieces and I used chili cans where you used weights. Had no problem taking them off.....
Your repair looks fine...won't even be noticed once you start putting stuff on it...
My decks were not pre-scored, all were planked with .5x3mm lath.
And there were no measurements anywhere on the plans as to deck length or slope....had to wing it....
My choices are Kentucky Ale or Magic Hat #9.....or something from the highlands...
Cheers,
Jim
Keith,
I use special ammo in the Bob's mortar.....not to be revealed unless fired upon first!
-
And a BIG magnifying glass...
-
Do not forget, madchemist.....I still have the Mortar....
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Oh, the hull was pretty much at final shape, just required some light sanding.
-
Jared,
My paddlewheels were cast metal complete circles...just had to put them on axles and attach blades.
No barrels or ships wheel were provided.
I do have a steam whistle, bells, and some lifeboats.
And a set of anchors if you want them...... :D :D
Yes, the railings, stack tops, and lettering were all photo etched brass.
Cheers,
Jim

Jared,
Must be posting at the same time......
I see you got cast metal stairs.....had to build all of mine except the front main stairway.
And your railings come complete with posts! I had to custom paint and cut all 100+ posts and set them in place........
What is the pilot house fabricated from? Or is the pic to be used for tracing for cutting pieces? Had to build that too.....
Should be fun!
Jim

Jared,
Glad to see you're getting started...It will be fun to watch and I hope to get a front row seat!
I see on the picture that your railings are something called fibre? My Amati kit had metal ones. Also, the cargo posts look complete....in the Amati kit thay had to be built...
They appear to supply the same anchors....makes me wonder if the Amati kit is their acquisition of your Scientific kit.
My instructions were very thorough...in Italian! The translated section was more of a reference with very little detail.
Did you get cast metal doors and windows? The scale is so small I hope so......
Cheers,
Jim

John,
The stairs look good, as does the rest.....
Jim

Adreike,
I agree with Sjors...looks great...
And either door works....whatever looks best to you!
Cheers,
Jim

Sjors,
Just don't forget.........."Yes Dear".........
Jim

Micklen,
Looking good!
You certainly are making rapid progress...and well done.

Hi Anja,
Those braces are for support...similar ones are used on grain delivery systems that attach to silos. It is a way to add support that is a lot less weight than typical trusses. Thanks for the comments and question!

Jim

It is possible my sound problem was related to my browser...I use Firefox and it has thrown a fit on some other player items as well....I'll try it with Chrome...

Interesting video, Frank,
I will admit that it did make me a bit dizzy.......
And I don't know if there was no sound or just that I could not get it to play?
You are raising the bar on showing a build!
Cheers,
Jim
-
Micklen,
You are off to a great start!
And it is a great scale to work in.....much easier to see what one is doing without a magnifier.....
Cheers,
Jim

Sjors = Innocent.....?.....

Sjors,
We probably overlapped while posting...I did see your comments ...Thanks!
And then John's as well....
Joachim,
Thanks for the look in!
Cheers,
Jim

Congratulations Anja!
You will certainly make a great moderator with all the practice you've had handling Sjors :D :D .....
