Hello and welcome to my log of the HMS Victory by Panart this is not a rolling log as I built the ship before discovering MSW this was my first model ship I completed it in around eleven months ,knowing what I know now about ship building I would have spent more time and added much more detail however I am happy with the results and would like to share the images with you all as from time to time in my other logs you may hear me refear to the victory thankyou for viewing and please enjoy the following

Been building masts and have now topped out S.R.'s final height. None of them are glued in place yet, just dry fit and will be coming back down soon to allow for the rigging to continue. She is no doubt a very large model.

trawl doors fitted ive opted to go with the doors with no brass surround and made the doors slightly bigger so they are the same size if the brass was fitted

Thanks guys for the interests and the likes
running a google image search I came across this boat I reckon I could clone it would mean re doing that pretty deck again where it raises at the bow  but hey that is no problem
ignore the size and shape of windows on mine this will all be planked over and new apertures created and as don mentioned I would need to make the windscreen steeper angled

if anyone has any pics you think this boat could be made in to throw them up there id be happy to see alternatives
    thanks

thanks E J I never thought such an app would exist that's gonna be real handy

This evenings activity saw deck planking on the starboard side and any worries over the symmetry being off vanished
I really don't know where im going with this build so any suggestions or examples very welcome ,at this stage the wheel house is still removable so that might be rebuilt a different shape I might raise the deck around the bow slightly also covering or redoing the deck planking is not a problem so any ideas guys jump in there and don't be a stranger

Hello all and welcome back to my penultimate post on HMS Bounty
another milestone reached is completion of the running rigging  I thank you guys for the suggestions on the stay line distortion issue I had
I stiffened the line with the white glue and water mix and played about and redone the lines several times Im know going to conclude I believe some distortion is normal maybe not so much on the real ship but it is just rope and any pulling on it at all will of course distort it so I think I can live with that .
We still ofcourse haven't reached completion there still remains my achilles heal on this ship, the ships boat and rope coils

with completion of the running rigging I am now going to let myself begin the rc aeroplane build
but your can be dam sure ill be back with a ships boat and rope coils to claim my sought after FINISHED badge in the title
so with some sadness the shipyard is deconstructed and now converted to a hangar

until then thanks guys for viewing liking and commenting

Hello all ive been away for a while from ship building as rc plane building has sparked my interest i thought i would show you all what to expect from a balsa plane kit
and how i got on with my first build ,the build itself was quite quick built over the course of a couple of months and very satisfying to see a large airframe come together over the first few weeks ,at about half way into the build i joined a local flying club and knowing what i know now i 100 percent would not have succesfully flown her without there help ,over the course of the past year i have scaled her out a bit and now enjoy flying on a regular basis

I was very impressed with the mantua version I would really like to try the Caldercraft version but would it be worth the investment?

Thanks also Doug I found the speed of my build came with the inexperience it was pretty hard to overthink things I knew nothing about anyway and regardless to the size of the thing it's still a ship and even a small ship build has all the same processes such as planking copper playing rigging etc. A small ship has just as much work just a large ship your stuck on the same stage for a we while longer

After the little mare nostrum build I did I have become a big fan of bare wood models instead of painting just use hardwood and softwood mixtures I think some of the artesania Latina kits lend well to this and I'm considering a Scottish maid or independence
