Robin u r doing an ecxellent work so far.... a bit slow ☺, but steady of high quality! Though I wonder how releiable is to assume that the ancient greeks painted their ships... except from some ornamental paint.... Even the frescos of santorini which are imaging minoan ships (minoan ships are more often assumed that they had some kind of painted parts) show no painted ships. Dont really know the answer... just pointing it out as food for thought. Keep up the good work

The hull was oak, the deck was pine mostly. No biremes were found ... Though in the port of Pireus in Athens the garages of the biremes and triremes were found. Also a few metal rams used on ythe biremes to ram the enemy ships can be seen in a few museums in mediteranian sea

I prepared deadeys, heartstays etc off the ship. Some glue stains are there now and am trying to cover them before installing them on the ship

Can somebody tell me how safe is to use shoepaint to cover glue stains on my ropes? Is it going to fade out in the longterm or is it going to pruduce somekind of other problems?

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
