Here is the bow with the bulkheads cleaned up from the putty mess ready to be filled with wood fillets.
And a picture of the stern, after trimming the planks and fitting a curved and sanded piece of plank over the top to fix the look of it.

What a type of wood is it Ed?
I just finished a boat made out of teakwood and Had a heck of a time bending planks I found if I boiled them for 20-30 minutes and then let them sit in the water as it cools a bit the wood started to relax . The window of time was very limited once I pulled the wood from the water to get my bends . Not sure what wood your using but maybe this method will work for you

Ed,
Either of those two methods should have worked although the thickness is probably an issue. They may need more soaking time as you didn't specify soaking time or the wood type.

I will grab a seat and follow along, as for staining make sure you sand off any excess glue or your glue will show worse because the stain can't penetrate

Derek,
I think it looks pretty good from here. If you have some scrap wood, mock up a deck section with a gunport and put into position. BTW, if you do the mock up, it makes a great jig for working on the gun rigging.

Messed around with some card stock paper and built a barrel for the cannon not sure I’m happy with it . Maybe after the wheels are done it will look better if not I will try again .

Only a few more days until my wood order arrives and I can start building frames, but for now I started making the second cannon carriage today using the same technique except I printed a copy of the plan to cut out and use as a template this time .
Clamping the two pieces together to ensure the pieces wouldl be identical as I filed and sanded to match the template.
I also added wheels to the first cannon they are not complete yet but just trying to decide on the overall look .
guess it looks ok what do the masses think 🤔

I finished one of the cannons I think the barrel looks ok , I will leave it alone and once I place it in its port I will make my final decision unless I hear otherwise from my fellow members
Thanks for looking in

Made a little progress on this one!!
I really don't like that stand, it looks so cheesy... I think I'm gonna try to make a nicer one out of cardstock...

Hi Derek,
thanks for the link. I have been reading these threads since last summer. I have been progressing and fixing things and documenting them along the way. I will be posting the progress done so far in the next few days and keep updating as things progress.
Just a spoiler: Hull planking is complete and it does look decent. A few things I learned along the way will help on the second build.

If I remember the story correctly, it would require a pea green boat, and I am too far along to consider a color change...tough luck for the cat!
I did manage to glue in the waterway on the port side, masking the deck so the glue would not go astray. The ship cat did not help, since she was busy drinking out of the jar of water I was about to use to clean my glue brush. Can't get good help these days.

I am in the early stages of building HMS Victory. My wife bought me the Corel 1:98 kit over twenty years ago. About ten years ago I started it and got the first layer of planking. I was not happy with the results so I put it aside and just recently decided to start all over again. I am building this iteration pretty much from scratch, about all I'm going to use from the kit are the fittings and some of the material. Wish me luck! I'm going to post my first question shortly. I have joined several ship modeling sites so you may if you visit multiple sites you may see me elsewhere too.

The copper plates provided in the MarisStella kit are very nice - what it will be like applying them I won't speculate on other than to note that the foil tape is easy enough to work with but doesn't stand up to any kind of abuse.
Mill backlash problem is improved. I hope next week to get into the new shipyard and try it out to see if it is sufficiently improved for my needs!
