Standart has not finished yet, but I finish it and will soon show the photos. All this time of my silence I have been finishing another imperial yacht Queen Victoria. Here is a photo of my finished work on this yacht.

Thank you. It was not so difficult to do it. It is more difficult to observe the style that I chose. My model in general will be very different from all previously built models of this ship.

Simultaneously with the construction of the hull of the ship, I continue to manufacture parts. Details very much and all different. So far I have been able to withstand the style of "vintage". However, I did not expect a hundred difficulties in my way. Very complex model.

Soon I will start the jewelry part of the eagle making the files are ready. First, milling, then casting from brass.

This scheme of manufacturing the helm of the helm was on a very large number of ships, this is not a novelty. This system of manufacture is good so that the steering wheel was light and relatively cheap. With such feathers of the helm, ocean ships also sailed.

Two different types of rudder are the fruits of endless disputes (and how it was in fact ...). That to me did not stir I completely stopped publications on the Russian-speaking forum. In fact, very much has been done. All these are parts which, after manufacturing, are laid out in boxes (mostly milling and casting). And all these details will be visible in the process of installation on ship hulls. In addition, the project is moving slowly. I'm not healthy and hard to work with.

Thank you. However, this ship is a "very dark horse" ... There are many photographs and drawings, but the documentation is very different in content. It is extremely difficult to recreate the historical image. This is not surprising. Throughout life, the ship was rebuilt many times. And in the Bolshevik period of existence, the ship changed beyond recognition. The ship was turned into a minesweeper. It's sad. The magnificent yacht was disfigured.

Work is progressing on a little. One more papacy of high-precision casting is ready and serious modeling work is done. Some bugs fixed.

Let me introduce to you the master who makes boats for me. In the photo the master with his "little boy" Le Francois. I can trust this master ... Now it's obvious. The name of the master is Yuri Gaidar.

This time I do not make boats. For all my career I built several thousand boats. So now I can entrust this work to another person and control the fulfillment of my plan. In my opinion, this man copes well with my thoughts.

Hello Greg I do the details for the two ships. But I always make a small margin (to compensate for possible marriage during casting). It happens to lose wax patterns.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
