I am using the boat as a form before gluing down the decking or finishing out the sponsons. I’ll have some more clamping options and power to hold the correct shape. I am Just going to let some natural moisture from the rain / snow moving in do the work for me. This maybe the last appearance of the pew pew weights. They have other duties on the books after getting dusted off mike

View without the “weights” and another angle. I get the feeling I still have a long way to go. im off to do honey do list while the glue sets fully. I’ve been in the garage far too long, I hear. Lastly .... side note. the Nitro motor is a huge mystery. But it and the prop shaft appear to be a perfect fit

hi! I Just started a model to pass some time. I thought I’d share some photos of the build. this is a old kit from eBay I found. I started searching for kit that would match a vintage gas water cooled motor that needed a place to sit I doubt I’ll ever run it but I’d like to build it like I would. I was thrilled to see other builds on here based on this kit and have used them to help me along. I decided to share my adventure in a photo journal. I have mistakes in early pictures but have corrected them and moved on. That’s a whole different story Im on day two and I can say this kit has helped me and entertained me 10x over the investment cost. Bang for the buck here is off the chart. Kid at heart. Only missing one here to share it with first hand. I Highly recommend some ship building in these times this is a vintage kit from the ‘70’s but still on Dumas Boats Website.

hi all! I’m going to join the fun. Great information here and I enjoyed the back story just as much. I just started my build. I found this site and post after I got my kit in hand. I feel lucky to have this to follow and cross reference. I was thinking vintage nitro but I like a shelf queen too. Less stress. Maybe brushless?? I also just learned that this kit is still maybe available from DumasBoats still minus the decals -mike

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
