  1. As you fit the shrouds around the masts and tie them off, do you alternate port and starboard shrouds on top of each other?
  2. To clarify, the catheads are the davits at the bow to secure and stow the anchors, What are the knees? Thanks, Jeff
  3. I received my Betts book and Lees rigging guide. I am now rewatching The Terror just to glean some insight into the ship and configuration.
  4. One more question, I want to plank the inside of the bulwarks - the OCCre videos call them the "armor". I want to do it before I install them on the hull because it's easier on a flat surface. Does that make sense?
  5. I found a waxed black hemp cord in Walmart in the craft section that I am going to try for the standing rigging. 75ft for about $3. It looks about the right thickness.
  6. I see on some pictures you have the last plank that turns almost perpendicular to the rest of the transom. Is that what you mean?
  7. I am considering marking and drilling the sunlights after planking the deck, prior to gluing to hull. What methid did you use to mark the hole locations? Did you cut out the deck plan on OcCre PL-1?
  8. When you are talking about the "tuck", what are you referring to? I have ordered the Betts book, but its not arrived yet.
  9. I want to cut individual longitudinal deck planks rather than lay the full strips and line them off. I intend to draw lines on the sub-deck in order to stay parallel and not wander. So many people seem to use contact cement for this as well. Is that the best method rather than a titebond type glue?
  10. Thanks, I have the Betts book on order. I am workingg through the other logs, I've already gotten so many great ideas and techniques. I last built a two masted schooner 25 years ago, so I've reassembled my tool collection and am ready to go. The nice thing is I can now afford a few more things than i could years ago! So many more things more easily available nowadays!
  11. I am just atarting the build of HMS Terrror. I'm really enjoying your log. I like the dirty weathered deck planking. I am thinking of lightly brushing on charcoal powder to achieve that look. Any thoughts on that? Also did you darken the deck plank ends to simulate caulking?
