  1. Hello Nick,

    Welcome aboard.

I hope you will post pictures of your completed Albatros in the gallery.

Good luck with this beautiful ship.

I'm looking forward to your build.

  2. Hello Adriaan,

I'm looking forward to see the lights being turned on.

And I hope you feel better. Are your hands any better yet?

PS - Sjors was a bit worried about you. I just told him how he could see whether you were last active on the forum.

Big Brother friend is watching you kijk.gif

    Take care,

  3. Hello Commodore,

The HMS Peregrine is a beautiful ship to build.

Have you cut the rabbet line yet?

If not, maybe you can have a look in the articles/download section.

The rabbet and bearding line are explained on page 4 http://modelshipworldforum.com/resources/Framing_and_Planking/plankingprojectbeginners.pdf

You already learned the most important thing when it comes to model building, patience.

Just take your time with the build and enjoy it.

You are off to a good start and I am looking forward to your progress.

    Take care,

    Anja

  4. Hello Christian,

Welcome back, you have been missed.

This is indeed a very beautiful build. As for your question .....

I’d like to dedicate this the last pic : it is puzzling my mind since a long time but what about adding a small blue strip to both curved rails (upper and lower) on the bow section . Someone any thoughts or ideas on this ?

I think it looks great the way it is now. But as we always say: 'You are the Captain'.

    Take care,

    Anja

PS - how did your exam go?

  5. Hello Alex,

I'm glad the saw works. The strips are looking good.

I am uncertain how to glue the second layer to the hull without having problems with excess glue getting on top of the strips. I need them clean for staining. I was thinking of applying a thin layer of CA on the hull with a paintbrush, let it dry a bit, then wet the veneer strip, position it and use a flatiron to make it stick. I have no idea how the CA will react. Ideas are welcome!

I have never heard of this being tried before. So I'm afraid I can't advise you on this.

But putting a thin layer of glue on the hull instead of on the strip is a good idea.

That will surely prevent the glue from getting on top of the strips.

    Good luck.

    Anja

  6. Hello Aldo,

Thank for stopping by my friend.

Your kind words are much appreciated.

I like the headpanels too, they turned out great.

I didn't made much progress lately, but the hull is stained. It is not quite what I expected.

On the small pieces of scrap wood it turned out good, but it didn't came out that way on the hull.

For now it looks ok. I let it rest and decide later if it needs another layer of stain.

    Take care,

    Anja
