How an 18th Century Sailing Battleship works
I thought I'd share this one.  Beautiful 3D animation and explanation of how the whole ship is built and how everything works.

    Beautiful job.
Question from Anja, how do you get those tiles so shining.
    You clean them?

Now i put six blocks from wooden pins, both sides of the ship. To be sure that the block doesn't move from place, when threats are tide on them,i nail them with two nails for each block. I also cement metal cleats where the manual shows. Finally eyebolts are placed around the masts and in other places according to the manual. Now i am ready to start the threats and put in place the foremast.

I just told you that it is a slow build.
After two tuesdays of building at the club, all the frames are done 🙂
I think I have to build more instead of watching other projects and not so much talking

    days 207-7 fore mast yard

i am aware i am doing this all the wrong way around, and that certain things need to be done first, however i wanted to know to myself that i was still able to do certain tasks, having now proved those tasks i can go to the conventional way of rigging my build,
i will still continue to work forward to aft, but concentrate on getting the Ratlines done before the yards

    fore yard made made
    slings being fitted

    day 204-7
apologies for not interacting with the forum much recently, lots going on in the background, nothing at all bad, just busy
before you all laugh at me about my way of rigging this build, i vowed i would start at the front and work aft, most lines are still just temp and still to be fixed into position, today the foemast mast yard will be mad up, then hopefully get the ratlines done
it might all just bite me on the bum

the line between the fore and main is a temp backstay as non are fitted

    good morning everyone
gardening, and puppy arrangements as well as PC gaming have got in the way of the Indy, never mind though its not a race, even though next build is planned LOL

    on table 201 -7 days

when i put  the Catharpin's in everything around the futtock staves looked bulky, so i redid the futtock shrouds and Catharpin's again and again it  was 4 times before deciding to leave them, not brilliant but not looking quite as bad
then made a decision that may bite me in the future, to go ahead a put the bowsprit on, as this was already made up and ready to go

We are all enjoying seeing that little table, instead of the trash bin for the pictures, Kevin.
Superb model, too. You are moving very fast on this one.

    good evening everyone
day 191 -6 foremast standing rigging
with the lower shrouds completed onto the futtock shrouds, the deadeye assemblies are slightly different to that of the Caldercraft Victory in that the futtocks actually keep the deadeyes from pulling out rather than a catch that locks them into the channel
the futtock staves are just a piece of 1mm brass rod

    good evening everyone
i have slowly been tidying up the bow and making up the masts, so yesterday i decided to insert the lower foremast, and tapped it into position, which gave a lovely satisfying sound telling ,e it was down on the keel, a measurement check confirmed the it was
1.3mm black thread, and 0.5 natural for the landwards, lets start the rigging
two pair of  pendants in first with 1mm thread and 2.5mm Thimble

    first pair to stbd

these will all be removed and tidied up before i go on with the build, i find deck fittings get in my way so these will be added at a convenient time

    day 180-6
today i made up the mizzen mast, all 3 are very basic for now, but i really wanted to get them out of the ways before the new puppy arrives, a couple of bits are pinned, but nothing is glued, so might seam a bit squiffy in places, also they they might not be in the fully home position
I will possibly be have a few days of soon from the build, as the mancave display area, is to be made larger, and although it was only done a couple of years ago, its its small (lol always something to do)

nothing is fixed, i am no way ready for masts at this time, but wanted to progress them before the new pup arrival, i also want to redo my display area, so the shed where i did the masts is going to be a temp storage area soon
the pups photo was added by mistake, but decided to leave it there, taken yesterday, with just the boys in it, we will be having one of them but will decide which one, as we have first pick, in a couple of weeks time, his name has already been decided, and will be Apollo

    good morning everyone
    Bowsprit 177-6  also completed yesterday
well that was a fun little project, i went for the longer version of the two options available and went with the flying Jibboom. this extents the build by another 110mm, the most difficult part was the angle for the masts passing through the cap, done now and im quite pleased with the result

    Hi Sjors,
    1 inch=25,4 mm
    1/8 inch = 25,4/8 = 3,175 mm
    1/16 inch = 25,4/16 = 1,5875 mm
    1/32 inch =25,4/32 = 0,79 mm
    3/16 inch =(25,4/16)x3 = 4,76 mm
    3/32 inch =(25,4/32)x3 = 2,38 mm
    I hope this helps.
